In August 2018, Excellent Schools Detroit dba Community Education Commission launched the GOAL Line Program, offering transportation and high-quality afterschool programming to students attending partner schools. The GOAL Line was created in partnership with charter school operators, Detroit Public Schools Community District officials, teachers, parents, and city leaders to increase access to Detroit schools.

On August 18, 2019 from 2-5pm Community Education Commission (CEC) will host a GOAL Line Back to School Rally for 1,000 students, families, and community members in northwest Detroit. At the event, families will be able to learn about the GOAL Line program, as well as enroll in any of the 14 GOAL Line partner schools for the 2019-2020 school year. A community resources table will offer information about organizations and initiatives that support parents; there, parents will be able to pick up a copy of the CEC's Detroit Parents' Guide to Schools, an annual publication that includes information about traditional district and charter schools in Detroit, as well as tips and resources to help parents navigate the education system. The Back to School Rally will also feature haircuts for students and backpack giveaways filled with school supplies, as well as free food, prizes and entertainment. The GOAL Line Back to School Rally will ensure that Detroit families are equipped with information, resources, and supplies that they need to be successful in the upcoming school year!

CEC seeks volunteers to help with event logistics, registration, activities management, and food distribution. Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact directly with Detroit students and families at this fun outdoor back-to-school event (weather permitting; event will be held inside if needed).

Hi, there! Our annual Fall Festival is our biggest fundraiser of the year--and sets the pace for what we are able to accomplish during the school year. Our PTA uses the funds raised to provide all of the field trips for each grade level. We also do our best to support our teachers by giving them "mini grants" for classroom necessities. Halecrest PTA also hosts several important, topical, parent workshops for our families (free of charge/child care included). We would sincerely appreciate any and all help received from this charity as one of our goals is to show our kids the meaning of "community" and what it means to "do" for others. PLEASE, come on out and work a booth, enjoy our wonderful school family, and have fun!
