What is the Eat Real Festival?
Eat Real combines a state fair, a street-food festival, and a block party to create a celebration of good food. At the Eat Real Festival, participants learn where food comes from, who grows it, and how to make it. Eat Real Festival attendance is 100% free of charge, all food is affordable, and incorporates delicious, regionally-sourced, and sustainably-produced ingredients. Eat Real’s mission is to help revitalize regional food systems, build public awareness of and respect for the craft of making good food and to encourage the growth of American food entrepreneurs. Eat Real supports the Baykeeper, a non-profit organization focused on keeping our bay clean.
What do volunteers do?
Grab a friend (or a group of friends!) and register for a fun-filled day on the waterfront, slinging drinks, serving samples, greeting guests and supporting a great cause. Even the on-stage participants including DJs, musicians, performers and demonstrators volunteer their time and talent to our event for the love of the community and the desire to support a healthier, more sustainable food system. Every year, over 500 volunteers come together to make this event possible, thanks to you!
We have (6) volunteer positions available:
- EVENT SET UP AND SPONSOR/VENDOR LOAD IN: Arrange, assemble and organize event-related items including but not limited to goodie bags; set up the Volunteer Hub room; greet and check in Sponsors and Vendors as they arrive
- BEVERAGE SUPPORT: Pouring beer/wine/cocktails or handling cash + point of sale systems (ie Square), ID check
- FESTIVAL GREETING: Hospitality, answering public questions, standing/walking, alcohol control

- VOLUNTEER HUB: Check-in/out volunteers, goodie bag distribution, lost and found, customer service
- BAR STAR: Help operations run smoothly along with other volunteers by being superstar bartenders, commit to working TWO 5-6 hour shifts, experience within the alcohol service industry is a MUST and/or if you've volunteered in this role at the Festival before.
