The Indiana Youth Hockey Association has organized an Indiana based hockey tournament for the past 26 years. For 2021-2022, the event is being held the weekends of September 17-19, September 25-26 2021, and February 18-21, 2022. 44 teams are expected to be registered for the tournament, bringing approximately 670 skaters plus coaches, families, and supporters to the Indiana community. The tournament is held in honor of Charlie Hogan, a beloved young hockey player who died unexpectedly in 1994. Charlie's red #18 Indiana Chiefs jersey is retired and proudly displayed at the S&T Bank Arena. The tournament generates the funds needed to maintain the Charlie Hogan Memorial College Scholarship which is awarded to an outstanding Indiana High School hockey player based on leadership, and community involvement. This award is presented by Don and Claire Hogan in memory of their son.
The tournament has been successful for many years and has provided more than $100,000 in hockey scholarships. IYHA also offers a scholarship through the fund in order to assist qualifying families with paying for their player’s fees on an annual basis.
Funds to support the tournament are largely financed by the participants, but ancillary revenue is generated through food and refreshment sales, raffles, and merchandise sales. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000.
Our organization is solely run by volunteers of our community and family members of our players. Being that the Charlie Hogan Memorial Tournament is our biggest fundraiser each year, we really count on volunteers to help run our annual events. We would greatly appreciate any and all help that we have to help this tournament run successfully.
We appreciate your consideration of this request.
