Opportunity Details

Annually, our club runs a concession stand for Lego League tournament. We provide lunch and snacks for the weekend's tournament festivities. The tournament usually takes place at a local elementary school. We use the money raised to provide funding for our horse team members veterinary funds, equipment costs and our at risk youth scholarships. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our coach, Beth was a volunteer with Lego League in the community for many years so it provides us a way to support another youth related club activity in our community.

Saturday, October 5th 2019 from 12pm - 4pm we will host our fall fundraiser Wine in the Woods, we need volunteers for:
set up from 10-12 / Serving samples or pouring wine from 12-4 (lunch provided) /3-6 clean-up .
We can accommodate none specified hours if needed for your participation!
Camp Good Days Provides free of charge programs and services to children, adults and families affected by cancer or Sickle Cell Anemia.
We host monthly events for children 4-17 and week long summer camping at our recreational facility for children 8-17.

We feed those families that are less fortunate, loss of job, and homeless, being servants to give hope to them, even if it's only enough food for (1) one week, with meets, cheese, cereal, milk, vegetable, fruits, and much more. We don't want no one to go Hungary because they fell on hard times.

Opportunity Details

Topsail High School Music Boosters and the Marching Pirates are hosting 18 other local Marching Bands on 19 Oct 2019. We will have around 2000 performers and between 3000-4000 spectators during the 2019 Pirate Classic.

The Marching Pirates are also participating in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Volunteers are requested to assist at concessions and merchandise stands at the Italia Performing Arts 2019 production of The Nutcracker. The purpose of this is to raise funds for scholarships for children to take performing arts classes and to promote dance performances in the northern Shenandoah Valley.

Each year FSS hosts a recognition event we call “It’s Your Time to Shine.” At this dinner event, we celebrate the successes of our participants and their family members, graduates and new homeowners. Participants and their families are acknowledged for a wide range of achievements including obtaining a GED or high school diploma, graduating college, getting a new job or receiving a promotion. First-time home buyers through the Housing Authority’s Section 8 Homeownership Program are also recognized at this event. We invite recent graduates of the program to be guest speakers to motivate and inspire current participants. The annual winners of our FSS Poster Contest are presented with their framed artwork and gift certificates. Supporters of the program, and the many volunteers who make FSS activities possible, are also recognized.

It’s Your Time to Shine is not just a celebration of participant accomplishments. It’s also an opportunity for current participants and program graduates to mentor new participants. Children watch as their parents are recognized for their successes demonstrating that goals can be achieved through hard work and determination.
