Mid City Nutrition Program is a non profit soup kitchen in Port Huron Michigan serving meals to anyone in need 7 days a week. Our Empty Bowl event is our largest fundraiser of the year bringing in almost 1/4 of our yearly income.
The event itself is 3 hours long. Guests receive a hand crafted bowl of their choice along with a light meal dinner. Door prizes are given out and a silent auction is held.
We need volunteers to help prepare and serve the dinner.

IF:Barron County exists to gather women in our local context (75 mile radius) to equip and unleash them to live out their full potential. For this 2-day event (February 9-10), we will be participating in a global gathering via livestream through IF:Gathering with over 200,000 women across denominations, generations, and cultures around the world. We’re going to gather for the purpose of remembering why following God and making disciples matters. Jesus is our common denominator.
This gathering is only the first step to providing many resources and tools to equip women for personal growth and to be intentional with the people in their places. This weekend is filled with rich Biblical content, engaging conversations on topics that affect our lives and world today, and to not only to take in, but to see to it that they seek who and how they can "pay it forward". This is meant to be kept simple and pure so the tools given can be easily adaptable for our everyday lives. Following this weekend, women will continue to gather for Bible study, over dinner meals or a simple cup of coffee to wrestle with their faith, spurring one another one to live it out, and to seek ways to care for the marginalized.
This is our 4th year hosting this event, and it has grown from a couple dozen women to 200+. For living in the midst of small rural towns, this has become a great opportunity for us to unite and realize we are a part of something greater.
With growth, comes added material needs and manpower. This is where your partnership is needed. We will be providing refreshments, light snacks, and meals throughout the weekend and this requires a team of people working together. Outside of the kitchen, we'd like to offer valet parking for Seniors. Doors open on February 9th at 5pm. We'd love for you to have a hand in making a difference in the lives of these women in our local community.

Opportunity Details

Help us celebrate our outstanding members and our Outstanding Youth of the Year nominees! The winner will be announced, and performances will be acted out by our very own members throughout the dinner. This is truly an awesome and impactful event. Volunteers are needed to help serve food & drinks during our 30th Annual Steak 'N Burger Dinner. This special event opportunity includes helping set-up decorations, serving meals, and cleaning up following the event. The Event will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5 pm to 8:30 pm. A mandatory training will be held on Monday, February 26th at 5:30pm.

This opportunity serves as a great way to meet other volunteers and positively impact the local community. Volunteers will be given their own Steak N Burger t-shirt during the brief required training and dinner will be provided!
