The Self Help Center is excited to be planning its 3rd annual Lip Sync Battle Fundraiser! This year’s theme is “Battle of Bars.” This event allows further funding to help provide support services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and elder abuse. Our event will be held on March 6, 2020, at the Clarion Inn (former Parkway Plaza). Cocktail hour will begin at 6 PM; the main event will begin at 7 PM.

The Self Help Center provides 24 hour crisis intervention and support services to victims in our community. We offer a 30-day emergency shelter to those who may be in immediate danger, help with protection orders, mental health services, substance use treatment, and youth prevention education programs. Funds raised through this event will help us continue the work of our mission: Prevent-Shelter-Heal.

The Lip Sync Battle will be an exciting evening where six local contestants (from six different local bars) will battle to be the best Lip Sync performer. In addition, we will be having a live auction and program paddle raiser. Our event is funded 100% by community contributions and would not be possible without our generous community partners. We are asking for your support. We welcome sponsorships, cash donations, items for our silent auction packages, or any other support.

Should you choose to donate, we will make sure your name is printed in the event program. Any donation is greatly appreciated. If you should have any question please do not hesitate to contact Micki Jaramillo or Walt Doney at (307) 235-2814 or email me at mjaramillo@shccasper.com
We appreciate your consideration!

We are seeking some computer based help for our Marine research project in the Mediterranean!
While we will sail from Greece to the norther Adriatic in a mission to replant seagrass meadows we need to reach out to a network of Diving bases and marine field stations along the way to work with. Since on board we are usually limited when it comes to internet, it would be amazing to have land based help to set up the meetings along the way and start conversations with the centers along the coast!

This will be the Winter Concert for the Norman Singers presented by the Norman Community Choral Society. It is one of two annual major concerts presented by our organization. Volunteers are critical to the success of the concert. They are needed to man the ticket table to sell and take tickets, to insert surveys into programs and distribute them and to collect surveys after the concert and assist with clean up. There may be some light moving of furniture both before and after the concert. There will be no reception due to time constraints imposed by the venue for the scheduled day.

Our Foundation offers tours to school children, preschool groups, and summer camps, as well as adult groups and college classes. We need docents to lead our groups around the Museum and teach them about railroad history, safety, and car types and purposes. Scripts and research information are available at our library. You will tailor the tour to the age of the group, but lots of support and training is available! Tours are usually during the week, scheduled as needed. We also give tours through our passenger cars one saturday during the month. You will have fun educating our visitors about this unique area of American History!
