Founded in Houston, Texas in 2015, GO Run For Fun has become a sustainable community program that provides children at a formative age the necessary tools to lead positive and prepared lifestyles ready for the challenges of adulthood. In 2017, 14, 528 children in 22 participated in GO Run For Fun in the Alvin, Clear Creek and La Porte, Texas school districts. The mission of GO Run For Fun is simple…to get kids moving! This 1K fun run is delivered in elementary schools during the school day completely free of charge. Students are exposed to the benefits of running/walking through an exciting and fun agenda that includes music, local celebrity appearances and the opportunity to participate with their entire school at their own pace. Our success results from the loyal dedication and hard work of many volunteers. GRFF volunteers help to set up the course, act as route marshalls and cheerleaders, run the sound and music system, act as mascot handlers, and help to break down the event equipment. Volunteers have the opportunity to engage with the students during the pre-event activities, during the run and are on-hand for "High-5 Duty," as kids cross the finish line.
By volunteering for a GO Run For Fun event, YOU are helping us to provide our local elementary school children with an opportunity to increase their self-esteem, perform better academically and foster confidence in kids at all sporting levels.
