Can you help some cowgirls develop their brand? In order to increase our impact in the world of horse rescue and education, we need to capture people's attention- volunteer and donor support is the foundation of our work.

We have a logo, and we know who we are and what we value but we don't know how to give it a "voice" in printed media and online.

If you're someone with experience in marketing and a heart for our work, reach out- we'd love to tell you about our history and future and what we are looking for.

We aren't looking for someone to dump years of work on, we have a few key items we'd like help with:

--a tagline/key message that resonates with the public
--some brief, reusable content for fundraisers and events
--design of a pamphlet and/or poster we can use to educate the public

If you're still reading this you surely know the marketing space better than us, so reach out and let's talk. You can do this work virtually and we promise to be super appreciative and respect your knowledge!

If you are simply interested in building a career in marketing, social media, etc- this may be the resume builder you need.

Fundraiser needed. We're a friendly, casual group and we don't pressure our supporters or use scare tactics to get donations, but we have horses to feed and care for and could use assistance in raising funds for hay, veterinary costs, equipment (like solar panels to prevent water troughs from freezing in winter) and so on.

We’d love a volunteer to run fundraising (online events, fundraisers, raffles, etc.) in compliance with state and federal laws. We're a fun group and share a passion for horses and rescue, and we think you'll find this role really rewarding as 100% of the donations go straight to the horses and we have someone to do our books/accounting so you don't have to do that.

Our organization accounts are set up and ready, we just need some help putting some funds in to support the work we do.

Azalea Blossom interns gain first hand experience in working in a small non profit organization. Interns receive college credit, travel compensation and a job title with specific responsibilities. To date, we have worked with Interns from almost a dozen colleges and Universities including SUNY Albany, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Cobleskill, Hartwick College, Rutgers University, Oberlin College, Hunter College and NYU. Our interns have majored in Public Policy, IT, English, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Education, Art, Psychology and marketing and have pursued careers in law, higher education, public relations among other related fields. Azalea Blossom interns work individually on projects and also as a team. Long term friendships have evolved from internships at Azalea Blossom. In addition, Azalea Blossom interns have achieved great accomplishments in the past including designing brochures and promotional material, leading social media marketing campaigns, restructuring the company database, researching and writing grants, and contributing to the curriculum and material for our programs. Currently, we are seeking interns to assist with teaching the SAFE through the arts bullying program, grant writing and research, fundraising, social media marketing, and outreach for the Bricks in the Wall domestic violence shelter program.

Interns have come back to volunteer as Board Members and work with Azalea Blossom as part time employees. Amy Gong, who designed the sixteen SAFE through the arts puppets as well as the student handbook during her internship with Azalea Blossom, wrote the following regarding her internship with Azalea Blossom: “Through this internship, I have gained priceless work experience, valuable insight in working with a team, and knowledge that allowed me to grow as a person, intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Azalea Blossom Inc. allowed me to utilize and expand my skills as an artist and as a student in today’s competitive job market. Through Azalea Blossom, I have improved my skills in using Adobe Illustrator, which will serve me immensely well throughout my artistic career. This internship has provided me with the opportunity to be creative in an environment where constructive feedback was always given and excellence was always achieved, yet never at the expense of having respect and mutual appreciation regarding everyone’s work. I learned the value of networking and building relationships in which resulted in having an interest in the people that we were surrounded by every day. During meetings, I received the chance to state my opinion on things extremely paramount to the company, such as suggestions for the company’s new logo. This is not the typical internship opportunity one will receive at other corporations, yet it is this type of trust that allows one to grow into that high expectation. The people I was able to work under acted as mentors for me by correcting me as needed and reminding me of my value. That belief in love for humanity is one of the chief driving forces behind this company.”

Our interviewers work directly with veterans and help them tell their stories, all while drawing out their important life lessons. This role puts you at the forefront of The Project's vital work. You will have the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the catharsis that occurs as veterans and their loved ones tell their stories and understand their experiences. You will surely develop a new perspective and build deeper interpersonal understanding as you conduct these interviews.

Interviewers do not need any previous experience to get involved. We require a simple willingness to talk openly and listen empathetically! Interviewers can conduct one interview or continue them on a recurring basis. We offer personalized guidance to each volunteer to help them prepare for this role. We ensure that our volunteers are ready to interact with and serve veterans. We encourage interviewers to seek out veterans they know personally. Though if you do not know a veteran or service member, we can connect you with someone who wants to tell their story.

Each interview lasts roughly 90 minutes and interviewers can complete them in person or remotely via a platform such as Zoom. Join The American Legacy Project today!
