Summer Santa is partnering with Kohl's in Southlake, Texas to take 163 children ages 7-14 in Northeast Tarrant County shopping for back to school. Summer Santa gives each child accompanied with a chaperone $125 Kohl's gift card to shop for back to school clothing. Because of the Kohl’s sales each child goes home with bags of needed items. The children that shop are experiencing life-changing challenges in their every -day life. Many of the shoppers have experienced or witnessed abuse/mental or physical, death of a parent, foster care and personal illness or just challenged by everyday life. The Kohl’s volunteers will serve as cashiers and assist children and their chaperones with clothing selection.

The first day of school is an important day for a child. Meeting a new teacher and new friends is a little scary for children. Summer Santa wants them to start it right wearing new clothes and carrying a backpack full of school supplies.

As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you will assist our Outreach Manager to spread the word about Wildlands League, table at amazing events, research different ways to connect with our supporters, and share our campaigns that help give voice to Canada’s nature to make sure at least half of the country is protected forever for all our kids, for climate and for the planet.

Hero Harbor is a minority, disabled veteran-owned nonprofit serving military and first responders. September 14th, along with the Deland American Legion Post 6, we'll host a Tribute to Heroes fundraising event. The goal is to honor our Heroes, spotlight the history of the American Legion's veteran support, and bridge the knowledge gap between civilians and the Heroes who serve them.

No amount of separations classes or exit interviews can prepare most of us for taking off that uniform. Regardless of your job or how long you served, it takes time to feel comfortable again once you walk away from your Hero post for the last time.

At Hero Harbor we know how independent and self-sufficient you are. We understand that you want to find a new normal where you pursue your dreams, provide for your family and find a way to pay it forward without giving up your sense of autonomy.

Volunteer opportunities for this event include staffing a Hero tent, greeting and guiding guests as well as set up and take down of event materials. This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the Hero community both military and first responder, get a better understanding of what it means to be an American and embrace the saying "Freedom isn't free"

Position Description: The Outreach Committee will be responsible for fully understanding and sharing Passion Impact’s (PI) story, advocating for the mission, and promoting PI’s presence in the general public. Committee members will engage and educate the community about the goals and values of PI.


Responsibilities:
- Strengthen PI’s relationship with the community.
- Design and implement a community engagement plan.
- Increase tabling presence by understanding PI’s tabling strategy and redesigning it for improved results.
- Collaborate with other committees and staff to improve advertising strategies and engage more locals.
- Work with staff to actively recruit for board and committee members.

On July 25, 2019, we are hosting a vendor sale at Guncotton Coffee in Hopewell, just down Route 10 from the Chester store and down 295 from the Mechanicsville store. We have 22 vendors coming to sell their goods and we will need volunteers to assist in set-up, break-down, and event assistance. We would be glad to have a Kohls banner at the event if we receive volunteer support!

We are seeking 12 business volunteers for a carousel of workshops. Bringing the world of work into school with a variety of business volunteers from different disciplines and industries. Would you run a workshop for us so that all 280 students get to experience these topics, students are divided up and you will run the workshop six times:

Do you have the skills to interview someone, could you donate a couple of hours?

Join us for part of a work ready in a secondary school, we are hosting one session around interview skills. Help the students hone their interview skills with mock interviews. You would be our business ambassador and help them to understand the process of gaining employment. Mentor the students through the interview process, provide feedback and help them rehearse the first steps to gaining a job on a one to one basis.

Dressed for School will be holding a Clothing Drop Off Day during the Picnic with a Fireman event at Foundation Meadows Park. We will be collecting any new clothing with tags still attached for children sizes 4 - 20. The clothing will be given to elementary students from low income or in-crisis families from Valparaiso Community Schools.
