The Boone & Scenic Valley will be partnering
with the Friends of John Deere, employees and
family members from John Deere for some spring-cleaning along
our railroads right of way. This partnership
highlights all the behind-the-scenes tasks and responsibilities our staff,
along with volunteer’s assistance that may be slightly less glamorous than giving a
tour in the museum or being a part of a train crew. Facilities maintenance and
upkeep plays a key role in keeping our customers safe and enhances everyone’s
overall experience while on the grounds at the Boone & Scenic Valley. Our section
of Iowa railroad history was saved for future generations to enjoy in part due the
scenic views the Des Moines River valley provides. Each year, mother nature
reminds us of the thriving ecosphere in the valley. This provides us a great
opportunity to assist in the revival of native prairie grasses and wildflowers along
our right of way. This is a great opportunity to see what it takes to maintain our
right of way. See you there!
