We’re looking for volunteers interested in joining our Board of Directors. We seek people who love the work of our theatre, along with our commitment to develop innovative Canadian theatre that is inclusive, eclectic, and representative of our city.The Board’s main responsibilities include supporting the executive and artistic leadership in an advisory capacity, fundraising on behalf of the theatre, providing legal and financial oversight of the organization, and promoting the theatre and enhancing its public standing.
Board members are expected to attend regularly scheduled board meetings (about 6 per year, generally held at the Theatre Passe Muraille offices) and to sit on at least one committee according to their interest and skill set. All board members are expected to participate in fundraising activities.
At this time we are particularly seeking applications from people with experience in the following areas: Law; Community Development; Fundraising or Philanthropy; Accounting; Engineering or Architecture; Government Relations; and those who live or work in the neighbourhood where Theatre Passe Muraille is located. However, we are always looking for committed, active champions of our theatre and encourage those with experience in other areas to apply as well.
Above all, we want our Board to fully reflect the people who live, work, play and study here. We welcome applications from people of colour, those with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples and members of the LGBTQ2S community.

Theatre Passe Muraille looks for dedicated and friendly individuals who share a love of theatre. We are often looking for Volunteer Ushers in order to assist our House Managers in creating a friendly and incredible theatre experience.As an usher you would be required to show up for your shift about 45 minutes prior to the start of the show. You are responsible for:
-taking tickets at the door
-handing out programs to patrons
-greeting everyone with a warm welcome to our venue
-tidy up the theatre space after the show
-being a member of our front of house team!

Members of the board are collectively responsible for ensuring that after BREAST CANCER fulfills its mission by planning for the future, monitoring and evaluating current operations, practices, policies, and procedures of the organization. Board members must fulfill the fiduciary responsibilities of the board of directors and make corporate decisions that protect the public interest and after BREAST CANCER.PURPOSE OF THE BOARD
The primary function of the Board of Directors is to ensure that after BREAST CANCER is achieving its mission through the development of services, policies, and procedures that guide the operation the organization. The board will also oversee the finances of the organization and contribute to the achievement of the organization’s mission by advocating for the organization.
The purpose of a board member is to serve the Board as a voting member; as such individual board members are not authorized to make any commitments on behalf of the Board or after BREAST CANCER.
ROLE OF THE BOARD
Strategically plan for the future. Establish policies that guide after BREAST CANCER and clearly articulates the values that frame future strategies. Advocate for and be ambassadors of after BREAST CANCER. Fundraise and generate revenue to ensure ongoing financial stability and security of after BREAST CANCER. The role of the Board is to:
Board Members’ Responsibilities
Actively promote after BREAST CANCER’s mission through the contribution of ideas, expertise, and active participation in after BREAST CANCER events and activities.
Be aware of and informed after BREAST CANCER mission, services, policies, and programs.
Actively promote the organization, and work to enhance after BREAST CANCER public brand.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to the Executive Director, Board Members, and Volunteers.
Determine and monitor after BREAST CANCER services, programs, and events
Engage in the development of strategic plans to accomplish after BREAST CANCER mission, oversee the implementation of outlined plans, and evaluate their success.
Actively participate in all board activities, including attending all monthly board meetings in person or by phone, reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board meetings, and assessing the overall performance of the board.
Effectively manage after BREAST CANCER resources.
Implement the fiduciary responsibilities of the board, such as reviewing after BREAST CANCER financial statements, selecting an auditor and receiving the auditor’s report.
Adhere to after BREAST CANCER Conflict of Interest, Confidentiality and other policies as outlined.
Operate in an ethical and professional manner.
LENGTH OF TERM
Board members agree to a two years commitment on the board unless earlier termination occurs as a result of any of the following:
1. A director resigns office by notice in writing to the Board of Directors; or
2. A director has been absent without being excused by resolution of the Board of Directors from three consecutive meetings of the Board; or
3. A director becomes or has been declared, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be mentally incompetent.
TIME COMMITMENT
Board members commit to attending quarterly meetings, to be held the second Monday, along with the additional time required for board work and other board commitments. Each board member requires to manage or serve on a committee of choice or as assigned by the board based on your portfolio.

Each spring and fall, Himalayan HealthCare brings healthcare professionals, social workers, educators, engineers, business people and other volunteers—including friends and family members—on a trek through the Himalayas to the remote mountain villages of Tipling, Shertung and Lapa in rural Nepal.Over the course of the 12-day trek, volunteers work alongside our field staff and the local communities to provide training, medical care and other life-saving support to some of Nepal’s most marginalized populations. In the process, volunteers experience a unique glimpse into Nepal’s cultural heritage and take in the majestic views of the Himalayas.
Fall 2022 Dates: October 30-November 15, 2022
Fee: $3,300
The fee includes a tour and welcome dinner in Kathmandu as well as meals, tents and portering service for the duration of the trek. The fee does not include airfare to and from Nepal or accommodation in Kathmandu.

Get involved with our amazing core volunteer teams and help us bring independent cinema to Vancouver all year-long!Many people look forward to finding our calendars at their local coffee shop or library. Our year-round Distribution Team picks-up and delivers the monthly Vancity Theatre calendar to communities around the City of Vancouver and beyond and provides a valuable service of promoting the outstanding variety of cinema we show at the Vancity Theatre. This is a great opportunity to see the city, get to know neighbourhoods, and meet the public. For our organization it is one of the best ways to promote, showcase, and introduce the public to the best cinema showing in the city.
Team members are required to commit to a once a month pick-up of a minimum of 200 Vancity Theatre calendar guides. Delivery is made to coffee shops, waiting rooms, cultural and educational organizations, and community centres and libraries…basically anywhere people sit and gather. Most distribution routes can be done by bike or walking. If you prefer to drop off by car, you will be compensated for mileage.
General Qualifications and responsibilities:
-Access to a vehicle is preferred
-Demonstrated ability to provide an excellent customer service experience
-Pleasant, professional manner, and the ability to work independently
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Be knowledgeable and up to date on VIFF Vancity programs and events
-Have a good understanding Vancouver’s communities
-The ability to discover and develop new drop-off points
How do I Become a Volunteer?
-To volunteer with VIFF year-round, you must be 19 or older.
-All potential applicants must fill out a Volunteer Application form and go through a phone screening process. Applications can be found here: https://www.viff.org/Online/volunteer
-All information requested must be filled out fully and accurately to ensure placement.
-Volunteer applications are reviewed as they are received. Phone interviews are scheduled as positions become available.
-Volunteer positions are filled based on previous VIFF experience, interview and knowledge of VIFF culture, work and life related skills, and selected preferences. Please keep in mind that each team requires specific skills and qualifications as specified in the Team Descriptions.
-Once accepted, you will receive specific training and venue orientation before being added to the team.

The Annual Damamli Mother’s Day Event on Monday, May 15, 2017 is an opportunity to celebrate our young mothers and to provide them with a nice dinner and some spa-themed goodie bags.The young women in our care have faced many challenges in their lives and many of them grew up in foster care. They are learning how to parent their kids without repeating the trauma and abuse they suffered, to be better parents and build brighter futures for themselves and their children.
The opportunity we are proposing for AOL's Service Day on May 12, is for employees to support this special Mother’s Day celebration! We would be grateful for your support filling swag bags for our young mothers with items such as lotion, nail polish, body wash, hair/nail gift certificates to salons in the Baltimore-area, other pampering items, art supplies, and gift cards to restaurants, grocery stores, or recreational activities. If your group wanted to make Mother's Day cards, the young women would love those as well! We are open to any ideas your team has to make this day special for the young women in our care. We would love for the items to be organized in nicely decorated swag bags.
Items prepared on may 12 could be picked up or dropped off at an arranged location and presented to the young mothers on the 15.If AOL employees are interested in leading an activity, volunteering, or being present at the Mother's Day Dinner Event in Columbia, they would be welcome!
