A Town Hall Meeting on Youth: Learn the Facts about Mental Health Problems and Substance Abuse

Mental health problems and substance abuse are more common than you may think. If you know a young person who is possibly experiencing a mental health issue or a drug or alcohol problem, you can help. But first you need to learn the facts.

Mental illnesses are more common than you may think. One in five Americans will experience a mental health issue during his or her lifetime, and one in 20 people will develop a serious mental illness.

Mental illnesses often strike early. Half of all cases start by age 14, and three-quarters by age 24.

These aren’t easy facts to take, but the good news is that there’s help. And people who seek help can and do recover.

Join our community conversation about youth mental health and substance abuse and learn more about how to help our youth and their families.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Delaware (NAMI Delaware) would like to host a 2-3 hour session focused on organizational positioning/creating communications templates and tools.
The mission of NAMI Delaware is to support, educate and advocate until there is a cure for severe and persistent mental illness. One key components of our mission is to raise awareness about mental illness.

Volunteers would assist in the development of strategy and resources to engage corporate/workplace environments to help raise awareness about mental illness, resources, and support options. This would include strategies for offering awareness activities, educational programs and support programs at corporate locations. It would be helpful to get the insight of HR professionals, marketing professionals, training and communications professionals in the best way to engage the corporate community and professionals.

Also, NAMI Delaware would like to develop a corporate presentation template/slide-deck that will better engage and resonate with corporate professionals. Helping focus content for a corporate professional and learn activities that will help engage these individuals when discussing a sensitive and often stigmatized topic. NAMI has the expertise in content. We could use the help of communications, HR, training, and marketing professionals to help hone our message for a professional audience and ensure it is suitable for a corporate environment.
