Parents Step Ahead Ambassadors Initiative-2018Your support will allow Parents Step Ahead to strengthen the PSA “ambassadors” program, that consist in teachers who support PSA to actively pursue parents who have never participate in their children’s school activities or visit the schools.
Parents Step Ahead programs have a positive impact not only on the lives of the children whose parents participate, but on the well-being of the communities where disadvantaged and minority families live.
Often teachers/school administrators find it difficult to get their student’s parents involved. Due to limited resources, they find themselves at a roadblock when it comes to advancing the education of children. With the help of Parents Step Ahead, we can work together to increase parental involvement.
Teachers/administrators have first-hand knowledge of what issues their students are facing today and it’s imperative that they work with parents to address these issues. They spend over half the day with a child and they are often the sole educator for a child. They have the access/information Parents Step Ahead is limited to regarding which parent is involved versus those who have never stepped foot in the school. They are the only ones who have access to contact information for parents and the ability to reach them.
Ambassador’s participation in PSA programs makes them eligible to participate in an all-expenses-paid educational trip to Washington, D.C.in September. They are VIP guests at the annual National LATINA Symposium, meet with Department of Education officials, educational organizations, visit Congress, the White House and other institutions, as well as get a tour of the most historic parts of Washington D.C.
We need help with fundraising to pay expenses for this program
We need help to develop a marketing campaign to find more support for this program, to show case the work of teachers and their contributions that most of the time goes unnoticed and unappreciated, and to promote parent-teacher partnership and its benefits.

Make these activities a tradition that can be carried on to future generations. Schools, community organizations and businesses can also get involved by developing a series of messages and activities that focus on family unity throughout the month of March.
What begins within the household is what will form the foundation of a child's future. Parents Step Ahead (PSA) targets the formation of sustainable partnerships with School Districts, parents, teachers, corporations and community organizations, to promote family unity and student academic success. Our goal is to position the family as the first teacher to provide the tools for students to reach their greatest potential. PSA works to promote the significance of parental involvement in schools, and the positive impact this has on academic achievement.
PSA programs focus on outreach efforts to empower underserved communities. Through the PSA Family Day program, parents, guardians, and families are able to take their first step towards community involvement and given the opportunity to actively learn about community initiatives by grasping the importance of becoming involved in their children's educational lives at home and at school.
The Family Day (FD) program is designated to advocate family unity and values by encouraging families to designate a minimum of one day a week as a Family Day or family night. FD is geared towards developing messages and activities focused on family unity and ideas about how to celebrate your own Family Day.
In Partnership with NISSAN North America, GOYA Foods, LATINA Style, Inc and others, PSA celebrates Family Day annually throughout the month of March. Every year families, teachers and community leaders join selected schools for a special Family Day to beautify their school campuses. A specific day is chosen and planned with anticipation from families, teachers, students and communities.

For Robert Martínez, a Dallas parent of four children, the Parents Step Ahead parent-education program was not merely an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about important child-rearing topics. In his words, it “changed him inside” and made him feel proud to be a parent. We showcase parents who serve as role models to other parents to ensure that they remain involved in the educational life of their children. Parents may think that because they do not have a college degree they can't help their kids in their educational journey. It is important for them to hear stories of success of other parents and individuals, so they can imagine the potential in their children's and in themselves. When we recognize parents on a public manner, they are inspired to continue their good work and to reach out inviting other to join them. They became leaders in their own schools and communities. They became great role models for their own children, and a great resource for schools and teachers.
Parents Step Ahead needs help in promoting these recognitions, to be able to recognize more parents and to expand our parent educational programs to more schools, cities and states.
We need help with the following.
Fundraising to be able to:
• Marketing/promoting the organization, its mission and work, to position Parents Step Ahead as the main organization in parental involvement.
• To continue our parent educational programs and to expand them to other school districts, cities and states.
• Creating a social media campaigns about the importance of parental involvement in schools
• Finding amazing speakers to give the keynote at our Parent of the Year Award, and to be able to cover expenses.
• To pay for the Parent of the Year Awards every December and cover expenses of parent educational programs every year.
