Peninsula Food Runners’ mission is to alleviate hunger and minimize food waste in the San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Every day, our volunteers pick up and deliver a wide variety of wonderfully prepared and non-prepared surplus food to community organizations that feed their clients in need.

In 2023, Peninsula Food Runners delivered 2.92 million meals to feed food insecure communities and diverted over 3.5 million pounds of good edible food from the landfill.

Peninsula Food Runners addresses 3 top issues that we are facing today.
1. Hunger and food insecurities contribute to family instability, psychological and physical
trauma. ***Distribution is #1 reason to why donated food can't get to those in need.

2. Food Waste is California's #1 waste. In US, approximately 40% of good edible food is wasted. This equates to $165 billion being dumped in landfills. Imagine recovering 21% of this wasted food, we will be able to feed 8.8 million Californians who are presently experiencing food insecurity.

3. Environmental Sustainability
Food waste is the #1 contributor of Methane. It is also 3x deadlier than CO2 which contributes to climate changes that we are experiencing today. This is a low hanging food that we can tackle but we need you to partner with us.

Here is how you can help make an impact. Volunteer and/or donate financially to Peninsula Food Runners mission.

1. Volunteer with Peninsula Food Runners to divert good food to those in need and address all 3 issues. Many food runs can be accomplished in less than an hour. Sign up to volunteer at www.peninsulafoodrunners.org

2. Donate financially to Peninsula Food Runners to ensure we can continue our work to educate more donors, recover more food, and relay all these good edible food to those in need.

Last but not least, start a campaign at your workplace to ensure your kitchens are donating the company's surplus at the end of the day to community organizations. Refer them to Peninsula Food Runners or email us at support@peninsulafoodrunners.org as to whom we should contact at your kitchen.

Thank you so much for your consideration.

gratefully yours,

Maria Yap

The Hillsboro Schools Foundation is actively seeking new board members! This all volunteer board is engaged in a variety of activities that support the mission to cultivate community engagement and funding to inspire excellence in Hillsboro Schools. Our board is responsible for hiring the Executive Director, managing the financial holdings and coordinating a variety of activities. HSF provides over $400,000 in donations for specific programs in the Hillsboro School District each year.
HSF provides funding for innovative grants that educators apply for to meet the needs of their creative teaching ideas that the regular district budget doesn't fund. School gardens, music instruments, adaptive playground equipment for kids with special needs, graphing calculators, math tiles, and so much more. In 2017, HSF was able to support programs including STEM kits for all K-6th grade classrooms totallying over $250,000. We also just finished bringing Shop back and career education to all our Middle Schools! $600,000 given!
Events held each year are a Gala & Auction in February, a golf event in September, and more. We have a great time at public outreach events like Celebrate Hillsboro in July and coordinating a large group outing to a Portland Trail Blazer game. We also celebrate our donors and volunteers with a variety of donor appreciation events. This provides a time for us to say thank you, as well as a networking opportunity for the attendees.
We hope you will consider joining us at the Hillsboro Schools Foundation. If you are looking to make an impact on education for your future employees, network, be a part of a fun group, HSF is a great option for you. Please give us a call if you have any questions or would like to check us out! Our meetings would be open for you. You are always talking about how can you help. Make a difference. in the 2021-2022 school year, HSF gave more than $570,000 for innovative programs. THIS is the kind of impact you can make. Help us guide the donations. Be a part of something big.
