Speakers & Mentor Needed: giving your opinion, suggestions, and ideas to mentee issues and concerns based on your life experiences; positive male role models, and wisdom women.Use your cell, tablet, or computer for a minimum of 30 minutes twice a week from any location.
Mentoring for *females raising boys and the boys being raised by a female.*(mothers, grandmother, aunt, foster care).
Mothers Raising Sons Separate Support Groups Meetings are to improve the chances of boys being raised by single females to leading prosperous, productive, and fulfilling lives and for the female to be on purposes. Meetings of issues and concerns taking place during out of school time. Two types of mentoring: Online E-Mentoring and In-Person:
MRS E-Mentoring, To Cause a Positive Change” in an electronic mentoring online with a group of volunteer mentors and mentees (males in middle or high school and their females raising them).
MRS E-Mentoring provides a secure online community with caring adults from different career paths, regions, and life experiences to provide support and make a positive impact on the future of MRS participants from single female (mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, sisters or foster care) raising a boy to be a man.
Parent Support Group
Mothers, grandmothers, and positive male role models are formed in a circle or round table to discuss issues and concerns that a mother may have in raising her son(s). We receive feedback from the group, volunteers, and counselors, which give their suggestions and ideas to our expressed issues and concerns.
Our feedback may come from grandmothers or mothers that have raised a boy to manhood with her stories and methods of success or failures in rearing him. The group respects their feedback because they may have been through what the mother has express or know of a friend behavior as the same as she expressed.
Also, within our group are positive male giving us feedback on their personal experiences. The men can either been raised by a female or two-parent household, they all have experienced the development from boy to manhood. They express what worked for their mother and what didn’t work in their development.
Male Support Group
Most time a boy will not express his feeling or what he is dealing with to his mother. Because he feels she will not understand him and usually she doesn’t because she is opposite (female vs male). What the son may be experiencing through school, peer pressure, body development, and appearance a female have never experience. Males think differently, react, behave, express, etc. than a female, therefore mothers might not have the answer as from a man. The man's point of view and experiences are valuable whether good, bad or indifferent experiences. Expressing the real deal in youth development; what to do and not to makes a difference when coming from male to male.
The male support group is formed in a schoolroom setting or theater style for the boys to feel comfortable in discussing their issues and concerns in regard to being raised by a female (mother or grandmother). Within the group is always a positive male role model to give them his opinion of their issues. Someone they can relate to because the man has been through similar situations while growing up or knew some buddy. Usually, they will openly discuss what they feel as though they couldn’t expose to their mother. Boys are more likely to discuss with others that are dealing with the same situation. This makes them feel that they are not alone in their emotions or decisions.
The separate support groups address the same topic in each group, which will give them an opportunity to discuss on the way home after the meeting.
Until the next meeting or gathering, implement the skills that were capture from the previous meeting and report on success progress, or failure.
