For Robert Martínez, a Dallas parent of four children, the Parents Step Ahead parent-education program was not merely an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about important child-rearing topics. In his words, it “changed him inside” and made him feel proud to be a parent.
We showcase parents who serve as role models to other parents to ensure that they remain involved in the educational life of their children. Parents may think that because they do not have a college degree they can't help their kids in their educational journey. It is important for them to hear stories of success of other parents and individuals, so they can imagine the potential in their children's and in themselves. When we recognize parents on a public manner, they are inspired to continue their good work and to reach out inviting other to join them. They became leaders in their own schools and communities. They became great role models for their own children, and a great resource for schools and teachers.
Parents Step Ahead needs help in promoting these recognitions, to be able to recognize more parents and to expand our parent educational programs to more schools, cities and states.
We need help with the following.
Fundraising to be able to:
• Marketing/promoting the organization, its mission and work, to position Parents Step Ahead as the main organization in parental involvement.
• To continue our parent educational programs and to expand them to other school districts, cities and states.
• Creating a social media campaigns about the importance of parental involvement in schools
• Finding amazing speakers to give the keynote at our Parent of the Year Award, and to be able to cover expenses.
• To pay for the Parent of the Year Awards every December and cover expenses of parent educational programs every year.

On September 29, 2018 in beautiful Brambleton, Virginia, two and four-legged athletes will race to Crush Cancer at Both Ends of the Leash in the 2nd Annual Two By Four Race Against Childhood & Canine Cancer. In its first year, the race saw more than 350 participants and raised nearly $16,400, bringing together our Loudoun community and beyond, including runners, the childhood cancer community, dog lovers, families, running clubs, Girl and Cub Scouts, and school and community volunteer organizations in a unique one-of-a-kind event. Even with little planning time for the 2017 race, more than 350 participants and 18 sponsors made it a huge success. We are looking to more than double those numbers this year! We will need lots of wonderful volunteers to help on all aspects, including Race Planning, as well as on Race Day( Registration, Course Marshalls, Water & Food Stations, Volunteer Management, etc.)
