Hong Kong Unison (Unison), established in 2001, envisions Hong Kong to become a fair and compassionate society where everyone, irrespective of race, colour, or creed, enjoys equal rights and opportunities. The mission of the organization is to effect change in government policies so that everyone in Hong Kong is treated with equal respect and concern by the authorities. A rights-based approach is used in the advocacy and campaign work of the organization. Unison focuses its work on serving ethnic minority Hong Kong residents and their families.Unison does not currently have an employee handbook and developing a digital and comprehensive one is its key goal. We are looking for 4 – 6 volunteers to form a workshop group to help re-design Hong Kong Unison’s employee handbook. Volunteers will create a handbook using the organization’s existing content, such as their vision and mission statements, social impact reports, photos, logos, etc.
Volunteers will also explore and propose a comprehensive and digital approach in which the handbook can be shared, e.g., software, PowerPoint, etc., and may provide suggestions on websites or materials where Hong Kong Unison can review the current Hong Kong employment ordinance and labour policy.
No prior experience needed, and you will be guided by HandOn Hong Kong, who oversees the project. However, it would be helpful for the volunteers to have some of the skills such as: xxs list out the skill sets mentioned.
The program will require your commitment for all three components below:
1) First workshop (up to 3 hours) – June 9, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Volunteers will receive an organizational overview of Hong Kong Unison, understand the background and details of the Design for Good project and discuss the scope of works.
2) In between two workshops (4 – 6 hours across 3 weeks) – from June 9 - June 30
Volunteers will work on the specific tasks assigned in their own time, and regroup with other team members and Hong Kong Unison regularly to report progress and ask questions they might have.
3) Second workshop (up to 2 hours) – June 30, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Volunteers will share their deliverables with Hong Kong Unison, get their feedback and follow up if any revision is required.
