Expand the Canon is seeking a user experience and branding expert to give us feedback on our current website’s layout, user-friendliness, mobile readiness, content, and general look and feel. We are currently working to narrow our brand identity from Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre to Expand the Canon and we want to ensure that the messaging, layout, clarity, and accessibility are on point.

We’re looking for a final presentation that can give us a blueprint of recommendations of how to make the most effective sales site, including reframing messaging and major design shifts. We are currently using Squarespace with a Memberspace add on feature. We would love recommendations to be split into “quick fixes” (mostly messaging and branding) and “long-term fixes” (bigger overhauls, user experience needs).

We'll start with a 90-minute briefing session where our team will share our goals and tell you about our target audiences and what we hope to achieve through our website. We'll collaborate to define our next steps and set a timeline. Next time we meet, you'll provide us with some of your initial insights and high-level feedback. When your analysis is complete, you'll deliver a short presentation to our team with your recommendations and give us a document of your recommended tactics and updates.

Our ideal volunteer can spend ten hours over two to three weeks reviewing our website. They have experience in web design, user experience, and marketing.

This project will NOT include:
-Website design
-Website development/coding
-Development of a content marketing strategy

To prepare for the project, we can provide you with details about our target audiences and our organization's goals, and how we measure success. We will provide access to the back-end of our website and Google Analytics. We also have a dedicated member of our team who will be responsible for supporting you throughout the project.

Our mission to ensure that women’s voices are represented in the canon of classics depends on bringing the wealth of information (research, plays) to artists, producers, directors, teachers, professors, and donors. We believe that if we do the leg work to find the great classics by women, then people will begin to integrate them into their work. Our website is our primary means of connecting people to that information. It needs to be clear, accessible, and compelling. Helping us create the most wow-worthy website, with clear value propositions and user/donor pathways, will not only help us make classics inclusive, but also ensure our non-profit is findable, fundable, and sustainable.
