The International Institute for Sport History (IISOH) has a tremendous need for volunteers. Yes - hundreds! More is better.

Our needs include marketing, advertising and networking within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, then in the rest of the USA, then the rest of the world. Our headquarters are in central Pennsylvania combined with an office opening in Vienna, Austria. So language skills are a plus but English is our primary working language.

We also need researchers to help develop our educational pages on History of Sport and the Olympic Games. See our National Olympic Committee Directory (NOC Directory) to get an idea of the vastness of this project, basically a portal to sport worldwide.

Developing the IISOH is through soliciting memberships and donations. We need people to distribute our advertising brochures, sales brochures and membership information to sports organizations at every level - from youth sports groups and teams, to schools, to all semi-professional and professional sports organizations. We want all sports media involved, all Physical Educators, all coaches in every sport. A direct mailing cost is prohibitive. We believe that personal contact is a superior strategy to generate widespread public enthusiasm and major donors. If every American could donate just three Dollars ($3.00) we could build a huge endowment.

Volunteers do not participate in fund-raising. Volunteers do marketing and advertising, they distribute brochures or help in other ways to do get information to the public. We need VOLUNTEERS to do the social media on FACEBOOK and TWITTER. We want to create an Instagram account and consider all other social media options.

We need volunteers to serve as actors and actresses in videos that we can post on YouTube as well as Public television stations. We want YOUR skills to be our public face, if we get YOU into the profession that you want - then we are thrilled to help you get there! Make viral videos for us and you can become famous, too.

We need artists to design posters that we can print and publish under the SPORT IN ART PROJECT. We have already printed posters for WRESTLING and GYMNASTICS with 2 to be issued in 2024. But we plan over 100 more posters for every sport.

We need researchers who love sport history to help build the NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE DIRECTORY which covers 205 countries. You can focus on one country and help us identify the sports organizations, facilities and clubs in that nation. We want to help expand sport everywhere as we study the history of sport everywhere also.

We need volunteers to help research every sport from ARCHERY to WRESTLING so we can build a sport history page for that individual sport.

We need web developers who are willing to help under the supervision of our professional web designer at www.iisoh.org and help to maintain the alternate web site at www.sportlibrary.org.

Sometimes we need strong bodies to help move boxes of books that weigh 30-50 pounds each onto a truck, off the truck and into a warehouse.

Pennsylvania has 12.5 million citizens in 67 counties. Children go to school in 501 school districts. The IISOH primarily serves this market but that is just the beginning. It is a big world and we need to focus small - at first. We need our volunteers to communicate this project to all Pennsylvania citizens -- so we want at least 5 to 10 volunteers in each county (that means 335 to 670 volunteers). We encourage groups to become involved such as sororities, fraternities, community service organizations, and sports clubs and teams.

The general goals of this internship and volunteer program is:

To assist in the development of a widespread marketing campaign to inform the public about the IISOH Library & Museum and its mission.

To assist in marketing and advertising the various fundraising campaigns that are planned in order to develop the permanent endowments.

To assist in research, writing and publishing quality educational articles for the website and print publications.

To assist in the social media needs including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others.

To generate ideas and/or create designs for posters in the SPORT IN ART POSTER SERIES

To generate widespread public support for the IISOH mission.

To translate material from English into other languages for publications in print and online.

The International Institute for Sport History (IISOH) is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. Donations are tax deductible, of course.

We are organized to operate a Library and Museum devoted to the History of Sport, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance, Sport in Art and the Olympic Games.

We need fundraising planning volunteers to help the social enterprise sector. We need strong fundraising planning for business plans, impact investing, future financial needs analysis. We are creating virtual volunteer opportunities of people who want to volunteer for 100 hours over the next 6 months who plan to make a 3 hour period available one day a week for most weeks to help Advance Social Innovation create accounting processes and procedures for stage 2 and stage three of ASI"s work, scenario plan, identify accounting needs for partners of the initiative to ensure compliance with ASI goals of helping social enterprises, fundraising planning, for them, and helping them to grow through service learning. This is to help Advance Social Innovation- www.AdvanceSocialInnovation.org. This will help social enterprises find a way to their next level through both expertise and tax benefits. Exeprtise is provided by volunteers engaging in extending service learning, interdisciplinary public problem solving and creating impact in communities as a consequence. We're early in our work and need a lot of help both helping social enterprises and getting our institution to the next level of scale of capacity so that we can have the impact we are seeking to have. But we need people with a vast variety of talents to seize micro leadership opportunities. We've learned from the Sucess of Open Source by Stephen Weber that volunteerism works best when an individual can identify something that they can do really well that they really want to work on and then get out of their way until their work needs to cross reference with the whole. We try to learn from that by mixing auto-didacts and highly qualified professionals in inter-disciplinary volunteer cohorts working to help social enterprises thrive. Help us help the social enterprise movement to thrive stronger than it has before.
