Village Capital | Would you like to mentor our Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration 2023 cohort? The Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration Africa 2023, supported by Moody's Corporation, is an accelerator program that will support 10 entrepreneurs promoting ecosystem restoration by addressing deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, and adverse climate change, which have emerged as some of the most pressing challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa.
ARTICULATING YOUR BUSINESS MODEL is a virtual session where mentors connect with startups on their business models and provide feedback on:
(1) whether companies have identified the correct key risks in their business models; and on
(2) a strategic challenge companies are facing related to sales, partnerships, or customer acquisition.
SUMMARY
Before you arrive, companies will have mapped their business models and laid out visually the participants on the supplier and customer sides of their model. This is a more free form representation of a business model than the business model canvas but should include many of the same key elements--suppliers, partners, distributors, customers, and end-users.
In small groups with mentors and other companies in the cohort, each team will describe their business model, and receive feedback from the mentors
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for volunteers within the Moody's that can offer insight into the process of developing and explaining a business model to understand its strengths and areas of opportunity.
Interest and expertise in the ecosystem restoration space- specifically around deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, and adverse climate change.
Work experience in least one sub-Saharan African country and or knowledge of the ecosystem.
Have a level of business acumen to be able to provide valuable insights regarding the subject matter.
BEFORE THE SESSION:
-Volunteers will receive a calendar invitation and a Mentor Prep including information about the session and the companies.
-The session will be held in English.
** Volunteers are welcome to participate in one or more program events.
