The Legacy Week appeal is a time for all Australians to show their support for the widows and children whose loved ones have served our country. The Legacy badge is a special emblem of support for our veterans' families, symbolising our nation’s greatest values of mateship, compassion and fairness. Legacy badges may be little but the funds they raise make a big impact.For this to be successful, we require support from the Sydney community and are counting on our supporters and new supporters to assist.
There are a number of ways to support Legacy this year;
•We are looking for volunteers to cover various areas of Sydney Legacy, including the Sydney CBD. We are looking for assistance each day, with our primary focus on Thursday 4 September on our annual Badge Day. Throughout the week volunteers from organisations, local schools and Australian Defence Force rove throughout the CBD selling Legacy Badges to raise much needed funds for our charity. Fundraising with friends, family or peers is a fantastic way to make an impact to the families of our servicemen and women who have lost their lives, or their health.
Thank you for your consideration and support of Legacy.

TeachSurfing was born out of the idea to foster education and bridge cultural gaps through knowledge sharing. Since our founding year in 2015, we have been connecting more than 3000 individual TeachSurfers with 250 local communities, non-profit and educational organisations. On our platform teachsurfing.org, we are matching the learning needs of our partner organisations with the skills and experiences of TeachSurfers. Through that, we have connected learners and educators across the world, such as German TeachSurfer Malte and the Impact Hub Yerevan to teach meditation in Armenia or Syrian TeachSurfer Khaled with German organisations and companies to teach Arabic language and culture in Berlin. Digital Lions, the Fair Trade creative agency arm of Learning Lions, is in the process of becoming the first Fair Trade digital agency through a memebership in the World Fair Trade Organisation.We are bringing Fair Trade and Digital outsourcing together, thus lifting both to an entirely new level. By sourcing animation, design and webdevelopment services from our creative lions in Kenya, clients not only get value for money, but impact on top.
2/3 of all Digital Lions proceeds go straight into the pockets of our lions. Any surplus that the organisation makes is reinvested into the education of younger lions, so that the whole project (education through Learning Lions, and marketing services through Digital Lions) rests on a solid, future-proof and independent financial basis. In the underserved region of Northern Kenya that we operate, offering equitable chances on the global digital markets is a lifetime opportunity.
Digital Lions is now looking for skilled and motivated volunteers that want to help bringing more projects to the lions in Lodwar, Kenya. More sales, more clients, more impact.
We have come very far in our training approach and getting the lions on a level of international competitiveness in terms of price and quality in the low to medium budget outsourcing domains, now its time to tackle the sales bottleneck.
We are looking for remote volunteers that have experience and/or good ideas in outreach, sales, marketing or alike and that are willing to invest a few hours a week in this cause. We can guarantee a high impact return on time investment (if you are good in what you do).
Additionally, we are also always looking for volunteers to support us on the ground. These can be any type of volunteers in the domains of: sales&marketing, project manegement, fundraising, graphic design, webdevelopment, system admin, programming, etc.

The Banana App is a tech initiative of the Be Good Project in an effort to help alleviate poverty by preventing unintentional hunger and reducing food wastage.Our mobile-based project "Banana App" will provide supermarkets/groceries/produce-stands/restaurants a time-sensitive platform to donate bananas/produce/foods/meals that are considered not aesthetically-pleasing for market display or sale but are still edible and in good condition.
Verified no-to-low-income clients/homeless individuals will be able to register using our app. Upon completion and approval of the application, the user can accept and pick up these donations.
UPDATE: In response to the recent CoVid situation that has affected our communities, we believe that this is a great time to increase development work on our initiative as even though there are obvious changes in buying habits from both consumers and manufacturers, food waste is inevitable and must be addressed more than ever as hunger tend to exist more when an epidemic hits our local economy. This is an urgent opportunity to help us work on increasing value, partnership and strategic planning to help us acheive a successful launch of our App.
This is an important work and we need people just like you.

Engagement opportunities continue throughout the year for many of the activities as well.In 2018, 800+ STEM Ecosystem organizers hosted over 2,000+ events, including 35+ regional community festivals, in 80 cities and towns throughout Arizona engaging 500,000+ visitors. In 2019, more than 900 organizers hosted over 3,000+ events, including 35+ regional community festivals, in 80 cities and towns throughout Arizona (see map), engaging 560,000+ visitors! The Chief Science Officer (CSO) program (https://chiefscienceofficers.org/) is the brainchild of SciTech Institute Executive Director Dr. Jeremy Babendure (https://scitechinstitute.org/). As lead of the nation’s 3rd largest science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) celebration, the Arizona SciTech Festival, Dr. Babendure realized that despite students being a primary audience, they were rarely included in conversations on what the Festival’s STEM activities and experiences should be. He also found that the stereotype that STEM topics are “hard, boring, and uncool” prevailed, thereby reducing student STEM identification and engagement and undermining the state’s efforts to create a diverse pipeline of qualified STEM leaders and workers to meet economic growth. This sparked the idea of putting students at the center of STEM promotion and community action. What would happen, he wondered, if students could choose peers to be their STEM advocate to help select and develop their school’s STEM programming? What if they could expand these opportunities to their communities or engage in local and state conversations on education and the workforce? He speculated that the STEM landscape and workforce pipeline would perhaps be more effective with students embedded in developing and leading these efforts. The rapid expansion and growth of the program is proving this to be the case.Building on the student government model, CSOs are 6-12th grade STEM leaders elected by their peers to promote STEM. In schools, CSOs advocate for and provide STEM experiences responsive to their peers’ interests. In the community, they serve as thought leaders and ambassadors, working with school boards, government, business, and industry to promote STEM awareness and engagement. Notably, the program empowers youth to chart their own STEM trajectory, provides opportunities for developing science capital and a STEM identity, and expands STEM access for historically marginalized populations (e.g., underserved, at-risk, and underrepresented). Leadership training prepares them not only for their roles but for an ever-increasing global workforce. It engenders self-assurance and provides the tools and knowledge youth need to become STEM advocates in their local communities and beyond. Mentors and coaches support youth development.
The program’s potential for broad impacts has encouraged significant growth since its 2015 inception. The number of CSOs has increased by 538% from 138 to 880, from one state (AZ) to ten (AZ, DE, FL, GA, MI, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TX), and one country (USA) to five (USA, Mexico, Kenya, Nepal, India, and Columbia). Importantly, interest continues to build with groups in both current and new regions planning to grow or launch the program within the next 5 years. To facilitate effective implementation across divergent locales and increase both program and CSO impacts, the CSO program team is working with regional leads to identify successful scaling elements. For example, partnerships with organizations such as the Teen Science Café Network (TSCN) and Tallo, an online workforce connection platform, are being piloted to determine if these types of mechanisms offer impactful STEM opportunities for CSOs and their peers as well as provide partners a strategy for scaling interventions. In addition, fidelity criteria (processes, procedures, and protocols), tools (IT, communication, data collection) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are continually being developed and revised to ensure that the program is meeting its goals. Outcomes, such as CSO STEM identity, STEM career interest, leadership and workforce skills development, and increased STEM interest and awareness for peers and community members, among others, are tracked and evaluated. The overall goal is to nurture a diverse STEM workforce pipeline and encourage lifelong STEM interest and engagement for future generations.

Once the roof work is complete we can move on to the respite room project. A Play for Gateway is unlike other softball tournaments, in that the winning team is the one that can bribe the umpire with the most cash on game day. By raising bribe money and playing in the tournament, your business gains visibility in the community and makes a fun financial contribution to Gateway’s work.Available Shifts
