The annual Highland Games are a family-friendly weekend long event full of Celtic music, dancing, athletics, food, beer and whisky. We have a lot of great opportunities at the Games and we need your help to make it a success. Volunteering is a fun way to interact with the community during the festivities and it comes along with Two Weekend Passes to the event (one for yourself and one for your guest). We ask that volunteers sign up for at least one, 3-4 hour shift throughout the weekend, but of course you can always sign up for more. There is a mandatory volunteer orientation on July 10th from 6-7pm. All volunteers must sign a hold harmless agreement and upload their photo ID for background check before shifts are confirmed. The goal of the Walkathon is to raise $20,000 to support the youth who participate in our summer and afterschool programs at Brandon House Cultural & Performing Arts Center. This year’s Walkathon is the start to something BIG as our theme is “walking to transform the lives of our youth.” Arts education and performing arts for underserved youth is needed now more than ever, as arts are being taken out schools or access to art programs has been diminished greatly. The Walkathon event will help us raise money and awareness to Brandon House’s programs that enrich the lives of underserved youth who have limited to no access to the creative and performing arts.Available Shifts

We run corporate volunteer groups in our Tallaght hub on Tuesdays between 10 am and 2 pm.Our main activities are sorting and packing up clothes, nappies, essentials and gift packs; as well as organising buggies and cots for the families we deliver to that week. We help up to 20 families each week and need enthusiastic volunteers to help us prepare mama and baby items.
If you would like to make a real difference for families in need and have some fun in the process (coffee, tea and biscuits are provided), please get in touch with us!
Where possible, we recommend a suggested donation of €25 per participant who comes to our hub, to cover our costs and support our mission. This can be covered by donations of baby items brought with you on the day or by a cash or online donation.
For the list of items needed, or to donate online, please see https://communityconnect.ie/corpvol/
