Forest Fire Risk Prevention Derivatives in Northern California
Bobby Fishkin, lead author
In 2018, Sacramento was named the ""the Most Polluted City on Earth"" due to ""smoke from Camp Fire,"" This proposal aims to prevent that from happening again through adopting a systemic approach and collaborating with stakeholders to actively prevent future such events. The insurance industry, along with institutional chief risk officers, have begun to recognize the importance of moving from ""loss compensation to loss prevention.""
CrowdDoing and Project Heather propose launching a prevention derivative with two new stakeholders: (a) contingent payers who pay in proportion to the reduction in risk, and (b) impact investors who finance social innovations in which their return is similarly proportional to the reduction in risk. It will build on existing precedents for contingent contracts involving social- innovation-based risk prevention.
Investment Banking Volunteer, Forest Fire Prevention Derivatives, CrowdDoing
A spectrum of forest fire risk prevention approaches are available: from creative new social innovations to well-established interventions. The forest fire risk prevention derivative would first survey existing forest fire prevention interventions in Greater Sacramento with an eye towards which ones might be suitable to support and expand. It would then review global social innovations that might be relevant to Northern California to determine which to replicate. Entities involved in risk management and risk securitisation, from insurers to reinsurers to retrocessionaires, ought to welcome the chance to share liability proportionally through a commons of prevention innovations. The prevention derivative can expand as more institutions and individuals join as contingent payers and impact investors in order prevent a larger portion of collective risk. Payments by private and public institutions to support prevention derivatives can be in-kind, through services, and/or financial.
Investment Banking Volunteer, Forest Fire Prevention Derivatives, CrowdDoing, require strategic thinking and are responsible for financial planning, analysis and projection for companies and corporations. The Financial Analyst prepares, reviews and distributes monthly financial reports to stores and cost/profit centers. By conducting analyses of information affecting investment programs, the Financial Analyst will forecast future revenues and expenditures and determine possible profit or loss. Working with the CEO, CFO and other executive-level team members to identify cost structures and determine capital budgeting for projects, the Financial Analyst will set network-wide investment direction and policies.
We are looking for a competent Investment Banking Volunteer, Forest Fire Prevention Derivatives, CrowdDoing to undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks. You will help in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties.
To be an excellent program coordinator, you must be organized and detail-oriented, comfortable working with diverse teams. If you have further skills in program development and human resources support, we’d like to meet you.
The goal will be to facilitate the effective management of programs according to the organization’s standards.

Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter, SFMC has been in existence since 1979 serving the needs of persons living with scleroderma. With a three-fold mission of support, education and research, the Michigan Chapter strives to provide quality educational programs to the scleroderma community.
SFMC has support groups with facilitators that have been trained for 13 weeks, and have continued monthly training after that. Our support groups provide educational and emotional support in a validating, confidential and compassionate environment, both in-person and virtually.
SFMC educates the medical professionals in the state, working closely with the medical schools in a grassroots effort to help them learn about scleroderma first hand from those living with the disease. Panels with children, men and women are built and speak to the medical students in an effort to help them build from what they are learning in their medical curriculum.
SFMC is dedicated to raising funds to support quality, peer-reviewed research done at the national level, with the combined goal of finding a cure. One day we all hope that no child, no man and no woman will ever be faced with the unknowns of hearing they have scleroderma, a disease that has no known cause or cure and few treatment options.
SFMC is looking for professional individuals who would like to serve in the capacity of a board member and do more than create a line item on a resume. SFMC is looking for 4-5 community members ready to learn more about scleroderma and to find the passion those working and volunteering have found, the desire to make an impact in the scleroderma community, even in a small way.
Board meetings are held virtually the second Monday of every month, with the exception of the month of July. Meetings are held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15. In the month of November, the planning meeting is held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This meeting is longer in length to accommodate reviewing the strategic planning for the year.
Board members are not picking out the color of napkins for our events, nor are they making the day to day decisions, staff handles all of those logistical matters for SFMC. Board members are asked to participate in our largest event held yearly the first Sunday of June at the Detroit Zoo. Stampede Scleroderma is a family-fun event. Board members attend, can volunteer in various areas, are asked to create a team for the event, but do not handle the logistics for the event. Staff manages all of the event details. Board members assist with obtaining sponsors and help with making connections in the community as needed.
SFMC is seeking board members from all over the state of Michigan. We are seeking those who have skills in the following areas but will consider applications for anyone who has an interest.
Skills desired:
Development
Fundraising
Advocacy
Finance
Marketing
Strategic Planning
Business owners
Public speakers
Rotary

CrowdDoing Deliberative Democracy Project Management VolunteerCrowdDoing is aiming to address democratic deficits through deliberative democracy approaches:
httppublic://volop_imgs/volop_404077_feature.pngblog.reframeit.com/deliberative-society/our-process/
This volunteer role is to help us discover grants CrowdDoing could be eligible for to support deliberative social innovation.
""This process can enhance decision-making for almost any group, including global multi-national companies - geographically dispersed and multi-lingual - as well as companies with more regionally concentrated workforces. It works even when there are deeply divided cultures, and challenges for which the group has not thought through the complexities before the process begins. Because considered judgments of populations are more likely to be sustained than top-of-the-head opinion, the process can create a deeper form of stakeholder buy-in. It allows resilient solutions to be identified, accepted and sustained over time. It can engage the collective intelligence of the workers or the clients of a corporation and provide decision makers with a data driven basis for choices that might otherwise be dominated by anecdotes and impressions.""
