We offer a wonderful third place workspace and special venue in the heart of the Pike Place Market with views of Elliott Bay.We are seeking to fill an additional three board positions in 2025. Board members are appointed to an initial three-year term, during which we expect each board member
to be actively involved in at least 10+ hours a month and for the following
activities:
Fundraise and support fundraising efforts.
Give a meaningful personal financial donation.
Attend monthly board meetings (Third Thursday at 4:00pm) and
actively participate in at least one working committee or initiative. Current
examples include strategy, finance, board development, governance, and
assisting staff with planning for fundraising events:
Increase public awareness of Folio, our mission, and our
programs through your networks, social media, and personal outreach.
Participate in the cultivation of current and future Folio
supporters, sponsors and future board members.
Support staff by bringing your special skills and background.

Position Role: To provide oversight, visionary leadership and fiscal accountability to the operations and directions of the organization. The Treasurer is responsible for managing and safeguarding the financial resources of the nonprofit organization. They play a crucial role in financial planning, reporting, and ensuring compliance with fiscal regulations to support the organization's mission and sustainability.
Term: Each board member shall serve for a 1-year term; board members serve consecutive terms upon mutual agreement between the member and the board
Responsibilities of the Board: As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for
● Determining and promoting the mission and purposes of the organization
● Selecting and evaluating the performance of the Executive Director
● Strategic and organizational planning
● Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
● Fundraising and resource development
● Approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services
● Enhancing awareness and public image of the organization
Additional Responsibilities of the Treasurer
● Provide leadership and guidance to the board on financial matters, ensuring that the organization's financial resources are used effectively and in alignment with its mission.
● Collaborate with the organization's Executive Director to develop an annual budget that reflects the organization's strategic priorities. Present the budget to the board for approval.
Regularly report on the organization's financial status to the board, including income, expenses, cash flow, and financial projections. Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
● Identify and manage financial risks that may affect the organization, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
● Help board members understand financial reports, budgets, and financial implications of board decisions, fostering financial literacy among board members.
● Uphold the highest ethical standards in financial management, including the avoidance of conflicts of interest and the promotion of transparency and accountability.
Duties and Tasks: Each individual board member is expected to
● Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
● Raise a minimum of $5,000, whether this be of your own means or through
fundraising and asks in your community.
● Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in at least 9 out of the 12
board meetings that will take place virtually, once a month for one hour.
● Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements
● Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully
engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships
necessary for the organization to advance its mission
● Leverage connections, networks, and resources to fully achieve the
organization’s mission
● help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising
and reputational standing, and can influence public policy
● Make ongoing introductions between potential donors and Executive Director
● Invest time and energy into the organization in your area of expertise (e.g.Marketing, Communications, HR, Accounting etc.)
● Participate in and financially support major fundraising events or campaigns by
inviting friends, acquaintances and business contacts to participate.
● Submit at least five new potential major donors each year for handwritten appeal
letters to be sent to
Other responsibilities of nonprofit board members
● follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions
● sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it during the year if
necessary, as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual
conflicts during meetings

For this reason, we fuel the growth of sustainable and impactful businesses by unlocking capital for early-stage entrepreneurs who are building emergent solutions for social, economic, and environmental challenges worldwide.The Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration: LatAm 2023 program will support 8-10 early-stage companies who are championing ecosystem restoration in Latin America to participate in 3 weeks of virtual workshops where they will have the opportunity to analyze their business from different perspectives and be better prepared to keep growing.
This session will happen during the third virtual workshop, where the teams will gain insight from two mentors (including Moody’s volunteers) into the biggest strategic challenges they are facing as a company and gain experience leading a board meeting. We are looking for volunteers within the organization that can offer insight into business development, strategic planning, capacity building, and customer discovery.
The session will follow this format:
-Introductions and Break into Small Groups: Each group will consist of two mentors and two companies.
-Small Group Work: The entrepreneurs will introduce their company and present their strategic challenges to then receive insight from mentors.
-Full Group Debrief
Before the Session:
-Volunteers will receive a calendar invitation and a Mentor Packet including information about the session and the companies one week before the session.
-The session will be held in Spanish, but live translation to Portuguese/English will be available if needed.

For this reason, we fuel the growth of sustainable and impactful businesses by unlocking capital for early-stage entrepreneurs who are building emergent solutions for social, economic, and environmental challenges worldwide.The Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration: LatAm 2023 program will support 8-10 early-stage companies who are championing ecosystem restoration in Latin America to participate in 3 weeks of virtual workshops where they will have the opportunity to analyze their business from different perspectives and be better prepared to keep growing.
We are putting together an Advisory Board formed by Moody's volunteers and other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Latin America, to support the program and provide input as we review the semifinalists.
Advisory Board members commit to:
-Be ambassadors for the program, spreading the word about the call for applications with their networks.
-Review applications from 5 to 7 companies and provide feedback (approx. 2hrs).
-Attend a kick-off meeting with the Village Capital team and the rest of the programmatic Advisory Board, where they will receive more information about their participation and the semi-finalist review process (45mins).
- The Village Capital team will send volunteers an email with information about their participation and the calendar invitations for the virtual meeting and the semi-finalist review period.
-The reviewing application period will be asynchronous. Once registered, the Village Capital team will send an email with all the information needed.
