Dear Commissioner [Commissioner's Name],

Subject: Invitation to Launch Afrikindness' Africa Awareness Week

I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of Afrikindness, a children-led, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting compassion, empathy, and kindness, I am writing to extend a heartfelt invitation to you as a special guest to launch our inaugural Africa Awareness Week.

The Africa Awareness Week is an exceptional initiative aimed at fostering cultural awareness, diversity, and kindness among students as part of the Black History Month celebration in October. Our mission is to create a balanced view that celebrates the beauty of Africa's diversity, promotes cultural inclusiveness, kindness, and racial harmony in schools.

We believe that by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of African culture, we can empower children and young people to embrace their identity, find purpose and drive, and break the cycle of self-doubt. The awareness campaign will have teachers training workshop on inclusive learning, children activities, webinars, podcasts, educational resources to schools tec

Village Capital | Would you like to mentor our Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration 2023 cohort?

The Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration Africa 2023, supported by Moody's Corporation, is an accelerator program that will support 10 entrepreneurs promoting ecosystem restoration by addressing deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, and adverse climate change, which have emerged as some of the most pressing challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa.

ARTICULATING YOUR BUSINESS MODEL is a virtual session where mentors connect with startups on their business models and provide feedback on:
(1) whether companies have identified the correct key risks in their business models; and on
(2) a strategic challenge companies are facing related to sales, partnerships, or customer acquisition.

SUMMARY
Before you arrive, companies will have mapped their business models and laid out visually the participants on the supplier and customer sides of their model. This is a more free form representation of a business model than the business model canvas but should include many of the same key elements--suppliers, partners, distributors, customers, and end-users.

In small groups with mentors and other companies in the cohort, each team will describe their business model, and receive feedback from the mentors

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for volunteers within the Moody's that can offer insight into the process of developing and explaining a business model to understand its strengths and areas of opportunity.
Interest and expertise in the ecosystem restoration space- specifically around deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, and adverse climate change.
Work experience in least one sub-Saharan African country and or knowledge of the ecosystem.
Have a level of business acumen to be able to provide valuable insights regarding the subject matter.

BEFORE THE SESSION:
-Volunteers will receive a calendar invitation and a Mentor Prep including information about the session and the companies.
-The session will be held in English.

** Volunteers are welcome to participate in one or more program events.

Our Goal and Purpose:
At the heart of our initiative is the unwavering commitment to providing Africans access to quality education. We firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of progress and empowerment and is a value upon which our organization was founded. Through our Global Mentorship Program, we aim to empower young African graduates by connecting them with dedicated mentors who will guide and support them in accessing scholarship opportunities and grants in renowned universities across the UK, Europe, and the US. Empowerment Through Mentorship:
As a mentor, you will be a vital source of support and inspiration to your mentees. We offer a unique two-fold mentorship approach, giving mentors the option to choose their area of focus:

Academic-Focused Mentorship: If you have a passion for guiding students through the academic journey and helping them succeed in their studies, you can choose to be an academic-focused mentor. You will provide invaluable assistance to aspiring African scholars, guiding them through the application process and supporting their academic growth.
