Mission Statement

'Building Resilience, Community and Capacity'

About This Cause

Redland Community Centre is a community based social enterprise with its Head office located in Capalaba, South East Queensland. Our regions of support cover Redlands and Brisbane City Council. Outreach service centres are located in high need areas of Wynnum/Manly and the Bay Islands. Outreach centres provide a streamlined approach to service delivery; support where and when it is needed. The Centre is long-standing, has overwhelming community support and has been assisting people with crisis, homelessness, D&FV, counselling and social connections as well as provision of information and advocacy for over 40 years. The Centre's philosophy is around providing a 'hand up' when times are tough in a non-judgmental and non-denominational manner. What do we do? It is easier to say that the Centre supports ALL of our community from homeless to housed, youth to aged and all demographics that fall between these categories. Our major areas of support are homelessness, crisis and 'social connectedness' to combat the high and rising trend of social exclusion and isolation. What programs do we deliver? Homeless United - assisting homeless with a hot meal every night of the week along with showers, laundry, counselling, case management, information and advocacy, resilience building whilst homeless, housing, addictions assistance/rehabilitation, connections with other service providers such as Centrelink and job agencies; this program is much more than a meal, it provides our most vulnerable with a true sense of 'belonging'. Food for our program is ethically sourced from Oz Harvest,a local business provides run out items and a local restaurant donates 30 meals a fortnight. Our Homeless United program is unfunded and relies totally on the generosity of our followers and supporters............. The Centre also delivers FREE counselling (which again is an unfunded program), Financial Literacy and Resilience (Budging/Financial Counselling), No Interest Loans, Emergency Relief with food and financial assistance (accommodation expenses, medications, baby formula, nappies, utility bills etc), Create & Cook (budget cooking class), Conquer MY World (women's development program build around 'self-acceptance'), Create & Play (assisting parents to interact in a positive way with their children), workshops across a range of community needs, assistance in completing forms, to name a few. The Centre is now focusing on community 'Wellness' with a view to gaining much needed data to uncover the high number of people in our community who present with mental health issues - what is the cause and what is the effect? Our All 4 One Wellness project is a funded program (Department of Social Services) which will run until 2021. Each one of our programs are FREE to access and participate in. Financial donations to the Centre are dedicated to the cause identified and are not used for staff wages or operational expenses. If you would like anymore information on our Centre, the programs that we run and how you can best assist others please don't hesitate to call or email.
