Mission Statement
We empower generations of children with hearing loss to listen, speak and have a voice. We were the first listening and spoken language program in Australia and have supported thousands of children and families.
About This Cause
Since 1970, The Shepherd Centre has assisted close to 2,000 children who are deaf or hearing impaired, to improve their quality of life. The organisation is recognised as a world leader in the field of early intervention Auditory-Verbal Therapy, providing families with assistance to develop their child’s spoken language, so they can reach their full potential and be a fully contributing member of the community. It is the Shepherd Centre vision's to create a world of choice with, and for, every child with hearing loss, to live the life they choose, through co-design, innovation and excellence in our field, with children and families at the heart of what we do. Today, The Shepherd Centre helps over 800 children and families each year in 10 centres NSW, ACT & TAS as well as families in rural and remote areas of Australia and overseas through our residential workshops and via our teleintervention program.
