Mission Statement
Bush Heritage Australia is a leading not-for-profit conservation organisation. We protect ecosystems and wildlife across the continent. We use the best science, conservation and right-way knowledge to deliver landscape-scale impact. We respect, listen and learn from working side by side with Traditional Custodians, and by working in partnership with pastoralists and other organisations to deliver the most impact.
About This Cause
What we do Landscape-scale conservation for Australia’s native species and ecosystems. Our vision is healthy Country, protected forever. Together with our dedicated and growing community, we are a unified force committed to returning the bush to good health. Bush Heritage buys or acquires land of high conservation value to protect & restore Australia's unique biodiversity. Our aim is to protect the remarkable diversity of life in Australia through conservation programs on a landscape-scale in biodiverse hotspots across the nation. We use right-way science with our partners to restore, protect and manage country to conserve native and endemic plants and animal species. Our team of scientists, field staff, data specialists, conservation planners and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Managers work every day to heal and protect the bush. We are on the ground, actively managing the landscapes in our reserve network and working side by side with Traditional Custodians and private landholders to deliver landscape-scale impact. Our reserves: In 2024-25, we helped protect and contribute to the management of 22.5 million hectares. 1.46 million hectares through our reserve network 10.4 million hectares with our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander partners 10.7 million hectares of agricultural land where we have been engaged to provide biodiversity assessments and advice (4.3 million ha of which lies within our ‘Priority Landscapes You can view our impact report to discover the places and species we protect. https://www.bushheritage.org.au/what-we-do/our-impact/annual-report
