Mission Statement

Association for Rural People's Advancement (ARPA) is committed to enhancing the health, well-being, and resilience of marginalized and underserved communities in rural Bangladesh. Our mission is to provide access to affordable, quality health care through community-based services, health education, and partnerships. We focus on preventive care, maternal and child health, nutrition, and disease prevention. In addition, we recognize the critical link between public health and environmental sustainability. ARPA actively engages in climate action by promoting climate-resilient practices, raising awareness about climate change, and supporting sustainable community development. Through integrated efforts in health and environmental stewardship, we aim to build healthier, more equitable, and climate-resilient communities.

About This Cause

Association for Rural People's Advancement (ARPA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Natore, Bangladesh. Founded in 2009, ARPA is committed to improving the lives of rural, underserved, and marginalized populations through integrated development initiatives. Our core areas of work include health care, climate action, education, women’s empowerment, and food security. Our Vision: To build a just, healthy, and sustainable society where every individual, regardless of background or location, has the opportunity to live with dignity and access essential services. Our Mission: ARPA works to ensure access to quality, affordable health care services and to promote climate-resilient development among disadvantaged communities. We strive to address health disparities, raise environmental awareness, and support the empowerment of vulnerable populations—especially women, children, and the elderly—through inclusive, grassroots initiatives. Key Program Areas: 1. Health Care Services We provide essential health care through mobile clinics, community health workers, health education sessions, and partnerships with local medical professionals. Our programs focus on: i) Maternal and child health ii) Primary health care iii) Nutrition and hygiene education iv) Disease prevention and health screenings v) Access to medicine and referrals 2. Climate Action & Environmental Sustainability Recognizing the growing impact of climate change, ARPA implements community-driven solutions to build environmental resilience. Our initiatives include: i) Promoting climate-smart agriculture ii) Tree plantation and reforestation iii) Clean water access and sanitation iv) Awareness campaigns on climate change and disaster preparedness 3. Women’s Empowerment We support women's self-reliance and leadership through skill-building and income-generating programs, as well as by facilitating access to health services and legal rights education. 4. Education and Awareness We run non-formal education centers, community literacy programs, and awareness campaigns on public health, gender equality, environmental protection, and social justice. 5. Food Security and Livelihood Development We support rural families in improving their food security through training on sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and income-generating activities. Our Approach: Community-Centered: We engage local communities in identifying needs and designing solutions. Inclusive: We prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable groups, including women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. Collaborative: We partner with local governments, civil society, and international donors to maximize impact. Sustainable: We focus on long-term impact through education, training, and environmental protection. Impact: Since its establishment, ARPA has reached thousands of individuals in rural Bangladesh with life-changing health care services, climate-resilient training, and development support. Our work continues to evolve in response to local needs and global challenges such as climate change and health crises.
