Our mission is to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families, contribute to their skills development, integration in public life, and the creation of a supportive environment. We envision a society where all people are treated equally, where everyone have equal opportunities, where abilities rather than disabilities are recognised.
About This Cause
In 2013 "Source" foundation was created by parents to support children with disabilities and their families. The betterment of the lives and health of children with special needs, as well as the process of maintaining the rights and mental health of their families through necessary help based on global experience and standards, are the ultimate goal of our initiatives. The "Source" foundation has carried out projects over the course of its nine years of operation that are meant to enhance the quality of life for children with disabilities and foster their health, physical and mental development by offering high quality services. Source foundation has been implementing following programs during its 9 years of operations. - Source House, is a developmental and daycare centre program for children with severe disabilities. Source House provides rehabilitation services for 200 children with severe disabilities annually. Children with disabilities receive the services of speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, psychologist, art therapist, music therapist, behavioural therapist and services of special educator. All these services provide full rehabilitation therapy for our special children. - Source production, is a social entrepreneurship, that produces soft and wooden equipment for children with disabilities. Through the project "Special parents for special kids" Source foundation was the first local social entrepreneurship, established and run by parents of children with special needs, that started production of customised and tailored equipment for children with disabilities in Armenia. The main purpose of the project was to engage parents of children with disabilities, to train them and to provide workplaces for them. Parents have the opportunity to bring their children to Source House and while they receive rehabilitation therapies, parents are able to work. Also, the production of equipment locally lights the parents' burden of purchasing expensive equipment from abroad. The purpose of the project is to provide income and social stability, as well as turnover in the foundation. Our long-term vision is to sustain the projects of Source foundation through sales of the production. - Personal assistant for children with disabilities; that provides an assistant who accompanies a child in public and do therapies at home. The main goal of this project is free time for mothers and care givers of children with severe disabilities and to grant them the opportunity to study, to work and to take care of their mental health. - Specialised equipment for children with special needs; within this project Source production provides special tailored equipment for using at home and daycare centres for free to the under-served families. The specialised and tailored equipment helps to organise a daily routine of a child. Due to this program children can go to public places and have their equipment for positioning with them. The purpose of these programs are unchangeable which is to improve the quality of lives of children with special needs and their families.
