About This Cause
Zartonk-89 (which acts in the Republic of Armenia) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that was founded in 1989 and registered as an NGO with the Ministry of Justice in 1995. Since its foundation, the NGO has been actively engaged in the promotion of health, education, environment and social assistance for needy segments of rural and urban populations in Armenia. The active support and creativity of our partners and local volunteers has made it possible to extend our presence to other regions of Armenia. Our mission is to improve the lives and protect the rights of orphaned, needy, and refugee children, teenagers and youth in Armenia. We implement various educational, social and health projects focused on improving the mental and physical health of young people, as well as improving their social skills and building their self-esteem. In addition, we have implemented several development projects that benefit entire communities. Our projects range from summer camps and basic education programmes for parentless and needy children to basic hygienic education for elementary school children and first aid training for rural villagers. Zartonk-89 NGO has been implementing projects since 1989, though we are only presenting you with the projects we have implemented during the last 5 years. In 2012, the ''Online Olympiad'' project in 11 regions of Armenia, where we had 780 participants. In 2012, the ''Youth researches in online center'' project in 11 regions of Armenia. In the framework of the project, we have founded workgroups of the Young Journalists Online Centre (YJOC) in 7 regions of the Republic of Armenia. In 2014, we implemented the “Give me a pen as well” project in 11 regions of Armenia, where we had 300 participants. In 2016, we implemented the "Young experts" project in 8 regions of the Republic of Armenia. The project aims to promote the involvement of the youth of the Republic of Armenia in the development of their communities. Currently, Zartonk-89 is implementing two projects. The “Providing education for 150 children in Armenia” project provides 150 working children with basic education by including them in the special training in 10 regions of Armenia. The “ICT as a tool for young voices” project supports 110 young journalists in Armenia to help them identify the problems in their communities and solve them through mass media and modern technology. Our future activities will be based on the organization's mission and long-term goals. Our future programs will involve children and teenagers from rural communities. Our team will continue to support them in obtaining skills, abilities and knowledge to enable them to actively participate in the community development process. In addition, we will conduct training programs for the trainers and staff of the organization aimed at strengthening and developing their professional capabilities.
