Mission Statement
Radhadesh is a registered charity / non-profi organisation dedicated to fostering spiritual, cultural, and ecological well-being through the principles of bhakti-yoga and sustainable living. Nestled in the Ardennes forest of Belgium, Radhadesh serves as a vibrant spiritual community and educational hub, inspired by the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Our mission is to: Promote spiritual values and well-being by offering accessible experiences in meditation, kirtan (mantra music), philosophy, and sacred arts. We host Radhadesh Mellows, one of Europe’s most celebrated kirtan festivals, bringing together musicians and spiritual seekers from around the world. Support spiritual education and youth development through Bhaktivedanta College and year-round retreats, where students and guests explore self-awareness, ethics, and devotional living. Uphold cow protection and compassionate care for animals through our goshala (cow sanctuary), where cows are protected and cared for in a spirit of love and non-violence, symbolizing respect for all life. Lead in sustainability and self-sufficiency with an active permaculture department, dedicated to organic gardening, natural building, water conservation, and forest management—offering both practical training and a living example of environmentally responsible living. Create meaningful community outreach and cultural engagement, welcoming thousands of guests annually to experience guided tours, workshops, vegetarian food culture, and festivals that celebrate traditional wisdom and universal values. Radhadesh exists to inspire a life of devotion, service, simplicity, and ecological awareness—offering a peaceful, purpose-driven alternative to modern material life. As a charity, we are committed to using our resources to benefit individuals, society, and the environment in ways that are sustainable, inclusive, and spiritually enriching.
About This Cause
About Radhadesh: A Sanctuary for Spiritual, Cultural, and Ecological Well-being Radhadesh is a not-for-profit spiritual and cultural center located in the peaceful surroundings of the Belgian Ardennes. As a registered charity, we are committed to promoting holistic well-being through the principles of bhakti-yoga, environmental stewardship, community service, and educational outreach. Rooted in the teachings of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, Radhadesh is affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and serves as its principal center in the Benelux region. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can experience peace, purpose, and personal transformation through timeless wisdom and practical action. Spiritual and Cultural Enrichment At the heart of Radhadesh is the practice of bhakti-yoga—the yoga of devotion—which includes meditation, philosophy, temple worship, and sacred music. Our daily activities revolve around creating a peaceful, spiritually uplifting environment where residents, volunteers, and guests can deepen their connection with the divine. A highlight of our cultural offering is Radhadesh Mellows, one of Europe's largest annual kirtan (mantra music) festivals. This free event draws thousands of participants from around the world and showcases the spiritual power of music as a means of community building, personal healing, and joyful devotion. The temple itself is a living symbol of sacred architecture and devotion, offering regular services, seasonal festivals, and guided spiritual programs for visitors and pilgrims. Education and Youth Engagement Radhadesh is home to Bhaktivedanta College, an accredited higher education institution offering programs in theology, mindfulness, and ethics. The college also hosts retreats and spiritual intensives that equip individuals with tools for inner development, ethical leadership, and conscious living. We also offer workshops, summer camps, and cultural activities for children and youth, designed to instill values of compassion, cooperation, and spiritual curiosity in a nurturing environment. Cow Protection and Animal Welfare We consider cow protection a cornerstone of spiritual and ecological harmony. Our goshala (cow sanctuary) is home to a herd of cows and oxen who are cared for with love and respect. We do not exploit these animals for dairy or labor; instead, they live out their natural lives peacefully, representing a model of non-violence and reverence for all living beings. This aspect of our charity serves both educational and ethical functions, as visitors and students learn about Vedic principles of ahimsa (non-harm) and the spiritual and ecological significance of nurturing animals rather than consuming or exploiting them. Permaculture and Ecological Responsibility Radhadesh is committed to being a model for sustainable and self-sufficient living. Our Premaculture department integrates ancient agricultural wisdom with modern ecological practices to promote harmony between humans and nature. We manage: Organic gardens that supply fresh produce to our kitchens and community. Forest conservation projects to preserve biodiversity and soil health. Natural building initiatives using eco-friendly materials. Renewable energy efforts and water harvesting systems. Through volunteer programs, training sessions, and hands-on workshops, we educate visitors in the ethics and techniques of regenerative living. Hospitality and Community Outreach Each year, Radhadesh welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world. Our guided tours, artisan workshops, vegetarian restaurant, and gift shop offer guests a memorable and immersive introduction to spiritual culture and conscious living. Our goal is to build bridges—between ancient wisdom and contemporary life, between spiritual practice and environmental activism, and between individuals and the wider community. We actively partner with schools, local organizations, and charities to provide cultural education, volunteer opportunities, and service-based learning experiences. A Charity with Purpose As a charity, every activity at Radhadesh is grounded in service, whether through spiritual outreach, education, ecological care, or animal protection. Our work is made possible through the dedication of our residents, the generosity of our donors, and the enthusiasm of our many volunteers. By supporting Radhadesh, you contribute to a vision of the world that honors compassion, sustainability, spiritual growth, and community well-being—a world in which people and planet thrive together.
