WHAT WE DO: GIRLS' HOME "OBRAJES": The Girls' Home "Obrajes" provides shelter for 120 girls and adolescents, aged 5 to 18, with various backgrounds (absolute orphanhood, abandonment, physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, and parents serving sentences exceeding 10 years in prison, among others). The “Arco Iris” Foundation assumes legal responsibility for them through a guardianship called "guarda," becoming their sole emotional reference and the entity that covers all their needs. The Home becomes their only house, and the Foundation becomes their only family. They all receive shelter, food, support in their school studies, medical care, and vocational training starting from adolescence. The most challenging task is helping these girls overcome the traumas they have experienced since their early childhood with the assistance of psychologists and educators. "ESPERANZA HOUSE": Located in the Villa Copacabana neighborhood, Esperanza House is a home that provides shelter, under a Judicial Custody Resolution, to male adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18. It aims to facilitate processes of resocialization, the restoration of rights, inclusion, and social mobility until they graduate. Esperanza House has a capacity for 60 boys and adolescents. All of them attend school, and those over 16 receive vocational training in professional institutes such as carpentry, mechanics, accounting, etc., based on their abilities and personal interests. "REFUGE HOUSE PROJECT": The Casa Refugio is a social project that shelters and supports pregnant adolescents and young mothers with children under five years old who are victims of abuse, abandonment, or sexual violence. The project focuses on personal and maternal empowerment, reevaluating their life goals and future independence. It provides temporary shelter, social assistance, psychological support, legal assistance, and training opportunities to the beneficiaries. The project accommodates approximately 20 adolescent mothers with their young children. "TRANSITIONAL HOUSE": Transitional House is a Comprehensive Assistance Center for children, adolescents, and young people living or at high risk on the streets. It offers the following services: A dining area serving nearly 300 meals daily. A nursery for around 60 young children of adolescent or young mothers living and/or working on the streets. Pedagogical support and literacy classes for street children and adolescents, with 140 children and 40 young or adult individuals participating in literacy courses. A computer and internet room offering courses and open computer use. Consulting rooms for medical, dental, legal, social work, and psychological support. Showers and laundry facilities. An accommodation area with a capacity for 40 children living on the streets with issues related to drug use and disruptive behavior. "STREET PROJECT": The Street Project is aimed at children, adolescents, young people, and families living on the streets of La Paz for various reasons, such as orphanhood, abandonment, domestic violence, etc. These children use survival strategies like theft or prostitution and often turn to drug use, especially inhalants and alcohol, to cope with their situations. A group of professionals visits these children daily in their locations, providing them with social assistance, psychological therapy, pedagogical processes, organizing sports activities, and more. Children or adolescents willing to overcome their difficult situation take part in therapy and a shelter for a couple of months. If circumstances allow, efforts are made to reunite them with their families; otherwise, they are referred to one of the Foundation's homes. Each year, the project works with approximately 500 people living on the streets. "WORKERS PROJECT": The Workers Project aims to help child laborers stop working and provide them with alternatives for personal development. These children are often at high risk, and their work leads them to life on the streets, breaking ties with their families, dropping out of school, and turning to alcohol, drugs, and theft. The project offers daily comprehensive pedagogical support, childcare, food, health care, and educational material support. It also supports young university students through scholarships to continue their higher education. The beneficiaries are often from low-income backgrounds and in high-risk situations, forced to work informally in the streets, sometimes accompanied by their own children. The project provides comprehensive educational support and childcare to safeguard the well-being of the children and prevent child labor. It also encourages voluntary savings to help improve their living conditions. "BETANIA CENTER PROJECT": Located in the Gran Bretaña neighborhood, one of the poorest areas in La Paz, the Betania Center Project currently benefits over 240 children whose families face extreme poverty and family disintegration. As a result, their children are at high social risk, especially when it comes to becoming street children. A large percentage of these children are raised solely by their mothers (due to paternal abandonment), who are often absent from home all day due to work, leading to a lack of support for their school studies. This, in turn, results in a high dropout rate, and many children end up on the streets. The project provides the following services: school support classrooms, childcare for preschool-aged children, meals, school study monitoring (professional homework assistance, school visits, parent meetings, etc.), social support for the acquisition of school supplies, craft workshops, recreational and sports activities. The project focuses on strengthening the self-esteem of the children. "FAMILY SOCIAL SUPPORT PROJECT": This project provides comprehensive support to over 150 families living in extreme poverty. It offers social assistance for one year, with a focus on food and housing. It also provides psychological and medical care, assistance with school materials, legal support, etc. During this year, the professional team of the project not only provides this support but also seeks alternatives, especially in the areas of employment.
