About This Cause
G10 Favelas is a group of social impact leaders and entrepreneurs from the favelas, which was formed with the idea of joining forces for the economic and social development of these communities, giving them a leading position in society. Its name is inspired by the G-7, economic bloc formed by the richest countries in the world, and its operations extend to 398 territories, through local leaders, in the states of São Paulo. Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Maranhão, Federal District, Pará, Amazonas and Espírito Santo. The G10 is internationally recognized for its success stories, generated through social businesses that bring income and change the lives of residents of peripheral areas throughout Brazil. We began our journey at G10Favelas in Pernambuco in 2020 and have already impacted more than 15,000 families, through more than 60 social organizations and community leaders who are our Street Presidents, in 14 cities and 45 communities. With more than 10,000 basic food baskets, 1200 stoves and refrigerators, hygiene kits, lunch boxes, masks and other items. We also carry out interstate fundraising campaigns in disasters caused by heavy rains in Bahia, Petrópolis and in several cities affected in our state. Inspired by Medellin, we created the COM VIVÊNCIA Project, which consists of transforming abandoned spaces into community areas and we have already created 6 leisure areas on the outskirts of Recife. Furthermore, through a notice, we brought Costurando Sonhos Brasil where we trained 36 people and 6 were hired for a paid internship and we made 240 pajamas that were distributed to 3 northeastern states in partnership with Amazon. We recently created the Favelas Contra a Dengue campaign, which had national repercussions and other states are replicating it.
