About This Cause

Reach Out was born during the widespread HIV epidemic in the South-West, to serve rural communities which were left unattended. The organisation supports underprivileged groups especially youth and women through a community-centered approach and advocacy. Today, the organization has grown to have more than 70 staff organized under three programmatic pillars: Health, Human Rights and Wealth Creation in the South-West and North-West Regions of Cameroon. Activities: I. Health: Provision of primary healthcare, awareness-raising, Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (WASH) and health stakeholder strengthening. REO’s main core focus issues are HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health, Malaria, Diarrhea, tuberculosis, respiratory infections and COVID-19. II. Human Rights and Governance: Institutional Strengthening, Protection monitoring, human rights education, and case management for children and survivors of violence, peace-building and conflict prevention, gender equality and women empowerment using advocacy and capacity building. III. Wealth Creation: Poverty graduation programs, entrepreneurship promotion, microfinance and provides capacity building for improved agricultural outputs. The focus of the organization’s activities are underprivileged people, minority groups, and the extreme poor, with a special focus on women and youth. Most activities focus on hard-to-reach areas. In May 2018 REO was among the first responders to the humanitarian crisis in Anglophone Cameroon, the most neglected humanitarian crisis of the world. REO has provided relief support to more than 450,000 internally displaced persons in Manyu, Meme, Ndian, and Fako between 2018 and 2020. This includes WASH items, Basic Food Assistance, Birthing Kits and vitamin supplementation. The organization has also organized more than 400 humanitarian distributions in the past two years and currently runs 8 mobile clinics providing medical care to hard-to-reach conflict communities. This has been attained with the invaluable support from the World Food Programme (Grants worth 1,000,000$) , UNICEF (Grants worth 800,000$), WHO (Grants Worth 500,000$), CARE International (Grants Worth 60,000$), Vitamin Angels (In-kind grants worth 10,000$), the International Rescue Committee (grants worth 100,000$) and the Norwegian Refugee Council(grants worth 10,000$), as well as development Agencies such as Manos Unidas (Grant worth 70,000$) or Amplify Change (Grant worth 80,000$), and more than 140,000$ in individual donations from well-wishers.
