Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve the health conditions of African populations by mitigating the barriers to healthcare, empowering health personnel, patients, and communities with the conviction that health is a fundamental human right that should be enjoyed by all. MANDATE To strengthen health systems through research, policy development,advocacy, training of healthcare personnel’s and provide quality health care to the underprivileged. As the world is facing a lot of humanitarian and pandemic issues our mandate is to reach to the last mile, leaving no one behind. We inspire hope, improve access and enhance quality in healthcare for African communities, especially the disadvantaged persons and communities.
About This Cause
Favour Low-Cost Healthcare (FALCOH) foundation is a non governmental, apolitical and not-for-profit organization which works to provide essential, people and context-centred and sustainable healthcare services to underprivileged groups in African communities. Our foundation does this by providing access to quality healthcare services by bridging the gap between the people and access to healthcare. To fulfil our mandate the foundation engages in range of activities including training of health personnels on best practices and knowledge development, mobile clinics caravans in communities to fight against communicable and non-communicable diseases, The foundations run maternal and child health programs throughout the year by providing Antenatal and child health to victims of war, gender bade violence and most vulnerable women/girls etc To be effective agents of change for sustainable health, we support communities and school, water and hygiene programs such as water supply systems, building of toilets and other emergency need required to improve their standard of living. FALCOH FOUNDATION is committed to provide and strengthen the health systems while providing support to humanitarian situations in Africa. LET BE THE CHANGE WE SEEK The conflict in the two anglophone regions of Cameroon has compromised access and quality of maternal and child health services for internally displaced (IDP) pregnant women and girls, whose livelihoods have been destroyed and hopes for survival shattered by the prevailing armed conflict in the Northwest and Southwest regions. Increase in violence in Cameroon has necessitated the need to put in place training for health personnels The Foundation centres her work on the following; Maternal and child health; in response to the cry for help from these vulnerable displaced pregnant women and girls, FALCOH through the Marie-Pierre Maternal and Child Health Program (MMCHP) partnered with health facilities in country to provide health-acre to displaced children and pregnant women. Health facilities selected were trained and charged to provide effective, safe, person-centred and timely antenatal care (ANC), delivery and immediate post-partum care services to all registered IDP pregnant women and girls in their respective catchment communities. We strengthen maternal health services delivery and incorporate sexual reproductive health services with inclusiveness of person with disabilities. Mobile Clinics; This program is in charge of all health preventive and promotional activities in the organization. Its activities are mainly focused on ensuring the well-being of populations via knowledge empowerment and behavioural change of persons, support health worker communities with skills and resources fight against communicable diseases by promoting safe workspaces. ӵ Research and public health: It are charged with all community and hospital-based research with the objective of informing health interventions, contributing to national health policy and enriching scientific knowledge. Gaps are identified and training developed to fit the needs. Emergency preparedness and response; We response to emergencies disaster and health situation to support. HIV/AIDS/MALARIA/HEPATITIS/ TB; Screening, providing psychosocial support for those affected, access to medication and services including SRHR, counselling, and education on preventive measures. We also act as a liaison between those affected with these diseases through our advocacy and various stakeholders. Clinical services (Health facility); Due to our vision to reach the most vulnerable with quality and affordable healthcare for all, and with support. Clinical services (Health facility); Due to our vision to reach the most vulnerable with quality and affordable healthcare for all, and with support from Crossroad hongkong and Brothers brother foundation USA, we were able to not just empowered health facilities with quality equipment’s to support their maternal health programs and emergency health, we establish a Centre to support our free healthcare services to most vulnerable. This program work together with mobile clinic program FALCOH FOUNDATION EMPOWERMENT FUND ; FALCOH foundation empowerment is a fund that is set for supporting women/ young girls in reaching their dreams, but in honor of our mother and fathers who left this world without completing their vision. Despite our focus on women and girls we are reaching out to those who are suffering and need a little support and coaching to achieve their dreams. The following trust are part of the FALCOH Empowerment Fund: Janet and Janet Trust Fund James Ako-Egbe Trust Fund. FALCOH Foundation continue to provide quality healthcare services to the last mile and saving lives at birth. To us supporting health facilities in delivering timely and quality health to all is achieving one of our major objectives of existence. Surgical health campaigns: giving our monthly mobile clinic campaigns, we discovered a lot of persons had been diagnosed with health issues that required medical operation but had no means of getting the surgery they required. So during our various health campaigns we registered over 50 persons with issues ranging from Hernais, cysts,fibroids, cysts, lipomas, appendicitis, Tubal ligation etc. From 2015-2019 we were able to operate on 30 persons that whose lives were severely affect and need urgent surgery. Due to eliminated financial resources we could no attend to all 50 identify since we partner with government facilities to deliver these services. Then as of 2020 with support from Brothers Brother foundation donating us with a surgical bed, and the foundation board with other materials, we were able to set up a surgical unit and bring in specialist to support us during surgical campaigns. Humanitarian support to victims affected by conflicts. FALCOH Foundation through it Noble and Dignity kits, with support from individuals and families with non-food items, food items, and our Noble Kits; dresses, shoe, blankets, buckets, pots, and Dignity kits; toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pants etc Psychosocial support and protection to victims of GBV. FALCOH foundation has provided psychosocial support to about 100 persons affected by GBV, trained 10 case management focal persons and psychosocial support persons. We had provided temporal shelter for up to 10 victims, limited by resources as many needed shelters. Psychosocial support and trauma for adolescent living with HIV and GBV victims The foundation does not only carryout education activities and screening, but also psychosocial and trauma support to young person born with HIV using focus group, peer to peer meetings. We discuss issues affecting them at home and at treatment centres, trained them, use drama, sport, and dancing. We organised monthly activities with them and carryout advocacy at the hospitals and treatment canters. Sexual Reproductive Health right program: Our SRHR program are done in three different ways, school SRHR education, SHRH community clubs and stakeholders advocacy. Maternal and child health program supporting vulnerable women/girls through their pregnancies, most of which are victims of rape, GBV and war. We delivered their babies and medical care still the have healthy babies. As part of the program, we support children below 5 years with nutritional supplements, trained pregnant and young mothers on breastfeeding and balance diet for them and their children. Some selected success story • Conduct 30 surgeries. • Donate medical Equipment to 10 government and community health facilities • Donate to 5 small non-profit organisation Office equipment to set up offices for their organisations. • Trained over 200 health personnels from both private and government facilities. Carry out over 40 mobile clinic campaigns in over 20 Communities in the southwest, part of centre region, reach over 30000 people in hard-to-reach communities. • Empower about 50 adolescents living with HIV in the west region via our peer-to-peer support program. • Provided Antennal and delivery for 100 internally displaced women/girls who were either rape, partners killed in conflict or victims of GBV. • Have provided 100 women with psychosocial support and trauma healing sessions. Donated delivery beds and baby cloth to about 110 pregnant women. • Provided family planning to over 50 women/girls. Donated non food items to over 5000 people with our dignity and noble kids. • Donate over 500 airlines blanked to children of 6 orphanages and internally displaced children in host communities in the southwest. • Provided capacity building to 20 COVID 19 ambassadors. • Trained 25 community health personnel’s/ field assistance who organised community campaigns and training to reach over 3000 young people. • Through our diabetes club, we esupported 30 women and men in living healthy and follow up on their treatment. • Also, through our SRHR school programs with 5 schools in the southwest region, we have reach to over 5000 students on SRHR education program. • SRHR Community club we work with 500 young girls and 20 of which we trained as peer 2 peer educators. • From 2019 -2022 through FALCOH Medical center, established by support from our partners has provide medical care to about 3000 people through direct services. • At the center patient see a doctor at fee less than $2 as compared to private sector hospitals of $5-$10.
