Mission Statement

Social Business Creation (SBC) is an impactful global platform created by HEC Montreal for social entrepreneurship and enhanced ESG performance through education, research, and advocacy. Its mission is to educate business people to be socially responsible.

About This Cause

Created in 2016 by HEC Montreal (https://hec.ca/) in collaboration with Yunus Centre (https://www.muhammadyunus.org/) of the Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, Social Business Creation is a platform where three global networks (trainers and researchers, learners, and practitioners) work together to create positive social impacts from market mechanisms. Its main activities include annual business competitions, conferences, and training courses for students, professionals, and educators. The Social Business Creation (SBC) aims to become the global leader in promoting social entrepreneurship and ESG performance through education, research, practice, and policy advocacy. Its mission is to inspire business people to be socially responsible. Specifically, the SBC aims to: - Change the mindset of students so that the idea that "profitability and positive social impacts must go hand in hand, therefore social business is the way to do business" becomes the norm for them; - Propagate the concept of social business and make students ambassadors for its promotion; - Enable students to become better entrepreneurs with a higher sense of purpose and to use their knowledge to benefit social contributions through their business activities; - To help students succeed in their entrepreneurial development.
