About This Cause

For 82 years, Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries has been supporting our community with counselling, building healthy relationships, community engagement, and most recently, with addictions services. Our vision is for a community where emotional/mental health and wellbeing are prioritized and destigmatized. Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries began as a group of concerned citizens in 1940, who organized services to assist with wartime needs of families. These services grew and the Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries acquired charitable status in 1967. We have been a staple in Cambridge and North Dumfries ever since - though our name has changed several times throughout the years. FCC has been serving Ayr directly since 1998. Our services are an integral part of the lives of families in our community. We provide a broad array of programs and services that encompass both individual and group work. As of February 2019 Cambridge Addiction Services program is now part of our agency. We offer: - One-on-one counselling for all ages, including children and youth - Couples and Family Therapy - Group therapy for a variety of populations including: positive steps to dealing with anger men's group, the partner assault response program (PAR), groups for survivors of domestic violence, a grandparents group, grief therapy, co-dependency, and our innovative Taming the Dragon program which helps kids deal with anxiety - Addiction services, including: treatment planning, referrals for family support, referrals for residential, community and day programming, AAA meetings, after care and relapse prevention/groups, community and justice service coordination, two Recovery Homes for Men and Women - Harvesting Hope Social Enterprise - our addictions team works with residents to create and sell jams and pies at the Cambridge Farmers Market
