About This Cause
Our Mission It is a basic human right to live without fear of physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological abuse. Leeds & Grenville Interval House will provide a safe, secure, and confidential refuge for women and their children who have been physically, sexually, emotionally or psychologically abused, threatened, or assaulted. Leeds and Grenville House will also provide a 24 hour crisis line. Leeds and Grenville Interval House recognizes the strength of each woman and will provide all of its services in a supportive, non-judgemental manner so that each woman can make decisions for herself and her children. Leeds & Grenville Interval House recognizes that children’s lives are traumatized by exposure to abusive environments. Their witnessing and normalizing of violence perpetuates the cycle of violence. Children’s needs are specific and distinct from the needs of their parents and as such Leeds & Grenville Interval House will provide a children’s program including support and advocacy for the children it serves. Leeds & Grenville Interval House will provide education to the community it serves about violence against women and the effects on children of the witnessing of violence, and will actively work towards recognizing and eliminating the imbalance of power which exists in a society of patriarchal attitudes and economic structure. Leeds & Grenville Interval House will provide all of its services in such a way as to reflect a commitment to feminist principles; including actively working towards the end of discrimination on the basis of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, age, economic status, ability, language, ethnicity, and HIV status.
