Mission Statement
Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Society (LMNHS) provides educational, cultural, recreational and social services for different age groups, ethnic specific groups, families, and for the wider community of Little Mountain/Riley Park. As well, LMNHS helps to facilitate the Little Mountain community to actively participate, through self help, in the development of a healthier community.
About This Cause
The following statements are principles that LMNHS strives to meet in all operations: Human Rights, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion All people are accorded full dignity, respect and trust. LMNHS ensures access to all services. We strive to remove all accessibility barriers. LMNHS encourages full, active participation and representation by any member of the community in the neighbourhood house, regardless of each person’s diverse abilities. LMNHS respects and promotes diversity both within the neighbourhood house and in the broader community. Community- Based Approach LMNHS supports the delivery of services at local neighbourhood levels, including both natural and formal support systems, linking the people we serve with the resources in the neighbourhoods in which they live. Programs and services will be responsive to the community needs. LMNHS is accountable to the communities its serves, as well as to its funders. Client-Centered Approach Services are delivered that are responsive to the clients’ unique and diverse needs, interest and strengths. LMNHS strives to ensure that choices are available to clients served. Community Development LMNHS promotes community members to take action on their own behalf. LMNHS promotes the well being of all members, both within the neigbourhood house, and in the broader communities it serves. LMNHS is committed to building on the communities’ assets and strengths. Advocacy, Collaboration, Partnership and Coordination LMNHS values advocacy for the individual and on broader issues that impact the people we serve. LMNHS recognizes the importance of collaborating and partnering in delivering services and in facilitating initiatives that build healthy communities. LMNHS will take a lead role in community planning and community events. Ethical Business Practices All manner of financial dealings will be done within the context of an ethical business practice. Equity of Outcomes LMNHS supports allocating additional resources to specific communities to promote a more equitable outcome for each and every community member. Volunteers • LMNHS values the role of volunteers. They play a vital role, contributing to the overall health and well being of the neighbourhood house and the broader community
