Mission Statement

Our Mission: To promote awareness of the culture of Aboriginal peoples within the community in an effort to establish a relationship of mutual understanding and respect between the Aboriginal peoples and the other members of the community. To advance, foster, encourage and promote the cultural and social interests of Aboriginal peoples, both collectively and individually. To organize projects and carry out programs to alleviate and minimize, wherever possible, adverse social and economic conditions encountered by Aboriginal people in order to effect a general improvement in their overall welfare and well-being. To promote native leadership in the native community.

About This Cause

The Niagara Regional Native Centre, incorporated in 1975, offers programs and services to all age groups of Indigenous, Metis, Inuit, and non-indigenous across Niagara. The following programs are currently offered to our community: Abbey House Transitional Home, Urban Indigenous Homeward Bound, Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin (I am a Kind Man), Indigenous Health Outreach, Urban Indigenous Healthy Living, Ling Long Care, Cultural Resource Coordinator, Alternative Education Schools, Literacy and Basic Skills, Apatisiwin Employment & Training, Indigenous Community Justice Program, Indigenous Court Worker, Housing Outreach, Language Revitalization. Babies & Family Programs: Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (ages 0 - 1), Indigenous Healthy Babies Health Children (ages 0 - 6), Odrohyageweh Early ON (ages 0 - 6). Children & Youth Programs: Community Action Program for Children (ages 1 -6), Akwe:go Urban Indigenous Children (ages 7 - 12), Children & Youth Mental Health (ages 7 - 15), Wasa-Nabin (ages 13 - 18), Ganigohi:yo, The Good Mind (Ages up to 18), Urband Indigenous Healthy Living Children (Ages 6 - 16). The philosophical base of our culture teaches us that all change occurs in cycles and the vision connected with that change must come from within. In keeping with the inherent intent of this philosophy, the main priority for the Niagara Regional Native Center has been to work with the winds of change to determine our own destiny.
