Mission Statement

The Lung Association of Nova Scotia is a charitable health organization dedicated to improving quality of life by preventing and managing lung disease through advocacy, patient services, education & research.

About This Cause

For most of us, breathing is so natural that we don’t even think about it. Too often, we take it for granted. For the 1 in 5 Nova Scotians who struggle with lung disease, it can be their only thought. They know that when you can’t breathe….nothing else matters. For over 100 years, our supporters have been helping the Lung Association of Nova Scotia improve the lung health of Nova Scotians. In order to make our province a healthier place to live and breathe, we need to work together on our mission: advocacy, research, patient services and education. Our collective communities require that a proactive approach to lung health be taken through programs and services. Support from donors and partners has allowed us to build and implement comprehensive programs for children with asthma and adults struggling with obstructive sleep apnea. Together, we have been supporting patients with COPD, lung cancer, and people awaiting lung transplants. We have taken a leadership role in advocating to government on lung health issues. We’re at the forefront of prevention; providing awareness and programming for key lung health issues like radon and smoking cessation. Unfortunately, Nova Scotia continues to have some of the highest rates of lung health disease across the country. But with your help, we’re changing that. Together, we can make prevention and improved lung health management a priority today. Let’s work together to improve the quality of life for all Nova Scotians. Let’s breathe better together!
