Mission Statement

therapeutic and educational services for young children with disabilities.

About This Cause

Raising a child is a wonderful, yet emotional experience. When a child has any type of disability, there are new and different challenges. That’s when families need a place with the experience, skill and understanding to provide specialized therapy and education to support their child’s needs and help them to develop to their full potential. Operating since 1943, Providence is proud of its history of care and compassion for young children with disabilities. Today, Providence operates six preschools across Calgary, offering classes for children 19 months to 5 years. Each child receives a direct, intensive therapeutic and educational program delivered by a team of certified teachers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and education and therapeutic assistants who work right in the classroom with the children. In addition, Providence's Community Services team of speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists provide assessment and treatment services for young children in child care programs and independent kindergartens across the city. Providence is also a contracted service provider for Supported Child Care, a government-funded program that supports child care programs to include children with extra needs. Goals We believe that every child deserves a chance to reach for and achieve their full potential. Working with the child, family and community, Providence provides the opportunity to build foundations that will last a lifetime.
