About This Cause
Our Surrey School District mission is to prepare learners to think creatively and critically, communicate skillfully, and demonstrate care for self and others. The Surrey School District is the largest of 60 school districts in BC with 124 schools and 70,000 students. 27 of our schools are designated inner city where low average incomes, high ESL and single parent family rates and low standardized test scores challenge staff daily to address both the basic needs of students and their educational development. The Surrey School District's core mandate is to provide educational programs that meet provincial curriculum standards in Kindergarten through Grade 12. However, as we strive to provide the best possible education to our students, this necessarily means we must also strive to create the best communities, the strongest families and a wide variety of supports, programs and opportunities for Surrey residents at large. Charitable donations that satisfy the charitable purposes requirements of the Income Tax Act include: school supplies, school furnishings and equipment, adventure playgrounds, student programs, student scholarships and student bursaries.
