About This Cause
UCSS is dedicated to helping those who are unable to help themselves on a case-by-case basis. As a non-profit, charitable organization, UCSS responds to the needs and interests of both the Ukrainian Community and the needs of Ukrainian individuals through a wide range of services. 1). Aid to needy and poor, for example, grocery certificates, referring to center for free clothing. 2). Providing assistance to senior citizens with pension plan documents, applications for housing, and information on looking for low-income senior housing buildings. 3). New immigrant information service. Advice and referral to agencies, ESL, to community organizations. A limited database of new urgent volunteer host family housing for Ukrainians fleeing the 2022 war. Referrals to counselling(trauma) resources, food sources, to Ukrainian-speaking professionals like lawyers, to help phone lines, within the City of Edmonton. 4). General referral and information center for Ukrainians. 5). Translation service for standard documents ie: certificate of birth, death and divorce, translation of Diploma without attachments, Police Record checks, Driver's License from Ukraine. 6). Information on immigration procedures & general government information, referral to immigration specialists. 7). Help with the Canadian Citizenship application. 8). Aid overseas via Pomich Ukraini only, Soup kitchens in Ukraine. 9). Liaison & cooperation with various governmental and social service agencies, for referrals and access to information. UCSS is not just another organization; it is you and us, the Ukrainian Canadian Community, helping those in need. Without your help, we will not be able to carry out our services. We fundraise to keep our office functioning.
