Mission Statement
The Autism Society, Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting the development of individual, lifelong, and community-based supports and services for persons with ASD, their families and caregivers.
About This Cause
ASNL is part of people’s autism journey; when goals are reached we cheer with families, when challenges arise we listen and work together for a solution. We provide connection, support and fun for people on the autism spectrum, those who love them, and those who work with them. ASNL's vision is for a province where people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families are valued and respected, and where they receive services and supports based on their individualized differences, needs and preferences. Generally, we offer connection, support and fun. We connect autistic people with their peers, parents with others going through the same life stages with their children/adult children. We share knowledge, education and ideas that will create a more understanding and welcoming community, for everyone. We build partnerships with recreation and community facilities in all areas of the province to break down barriers families and individual face to accessing peer connect, physical activity, and fun. We have a mandate to; • Engage with public policymakers and advocate to improve the lives of those with ASD, • Empower people to advocate and obtain supports, • Provide easy to understand, practical information and education, • Create connections and navigational supports for individuals, families and professionals to access community and public services, • Partner with researchers, • Provide learning and employment opportunities through engagement in social enterprise. ASNL has offices in St. John's, Clarenville, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook.
