About This Cause
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel York (BBBSPY) has been providing essential services for children and youth across Peel and York Regions for over 50 years. Our mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. Our vision is that all young people realize their full potential. BBBSPY is committed to offering mentoring programs that meet the unique needs of children and youth facing adversity. There are 15 core programs offered by the agency. These include one-to-one and group mentoring services delivered both in the community and in schools. As a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, BBBSPY is guided by a National Theory of Change. This proven framework enables our team to establish, monitor, and support high impact mentoring relationships for marginalized youth. Through the use of ongoing evidence-informed evaluations, the positive effect BBBSPY programs has on healthy child development is clear. The developmental relationships formed between Mentees and caring adult Mentors result in measurable outcomes in the areas of Social-Emotional Competence, Mental Health & Well-Being, and Educational Engagement & Employment Readiness.
