Mission Statement

To enhance the quality of life for our community, and deliver purposeful services to advance the social and economic integration of our community into the broader Canadian society.

About This Cause

For over 50 years, the Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples (CSSP) has been a cornerstone of support, advocacy, and empowerment for the Hispanic and Latinx community in Toronto. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our community members and advance their social and economic integration into broader Canadian society. Guided by our core values of unity, equity, justice, and accountability, CSSP offers a wide range of impactful programs and services tailored to meet the diverse and evolving needs of those we serve. From newcomers seeking settlement support to individuals in need of legal aid, CSSP provides comprehensive assistance through initiatives that address key challenges such as housing, employment, food security, gender-based violence, and access to justice. Highlights of our work include: Settlement Services: Supporting newcomers with language training, housing assistance, and job search strategies. In 2023-2024 alone, CSSP opened 1,400 settlement files, helping clients secure stable housing and employment. Legal Clinic: Offering expert guidance on immigration, employment, and housing matters, including recovering over $28,000 in unpaid wages for vulnerable workers and assisting victims of human trafficking. Food Bank: Partnering with local organizations to provide over 1,400 hampers annually, feeding more than 4,200 individuals facing food insecurity. Violence Against Women Program: Delivering crisis counseling, transitional housing support, and resilience-building workshops to empower survivors of gender-based violence. Sexual Health Program: Focused on the Latinx 2SLGBTQI+ community, this program provides counseling, harm reduction kits, HIV testing, and mental health workshops. Seniors Program: Creating vibrant spaces for Spanish-speaking seniors to connect, learn, and thrive through activities like Zumba classes, digital literacy workshops, and cultural outings. CSSP’s ability to adapt to challenges such as rising immigration pressures, economic hardships, and systemic inequities underscores our commitment to fostering resilience and inclusion. Through partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and government agencies, CSSP amplifies its impact and ensures culturally relevant, accessible services. As we look to the future, CSSP remains steadfast in its vision of growing a united, engaged, and prosperous community. With the ongoing support of our donors, volunteers, and allies, we will continue to serve as a vital lifeline and resource for the Hispanic and Latinx community in Toronto. Together, we are building a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow. Now more than ever, funding support is critical to sustaining and expanding CSSP’s services. Every dollar makes a difference—whether it’s providing a meal to a family in need, legal assistance to a vulnerable worker, or a safe space and new pathway for survivors of violence. With your support, we can continue to transform lives and build a stronger, more inclusive community. Your donation contributes to making a tangible impact for thousands of individuals who rely on CSSP every day.
