Mission Statement

Over 35 years, the Newcomer Centre formerly known as Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN) has been bridging the transition of newcomers into the Edmonton community. To achieve this vision, we are serving as key catalysts and leading collaborators into positively shaping the attitudes, behaviours and practices of organizations and individuals to value the diversity that newcomers bring to the community.

About This Cause

Formerly known as the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN), the Newcomer Centre is dedicated to supporting the successful settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees in Edmonton. Rooted in the values of social justice, diversity, compassion, and responsibility, we work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for newcomers and Canadians alike. Every year, we support over 17,000 newcomers as they navigate their new lives in our city, helping them fully integrate into the community while sharing their unique skills and experiences to enrich and strengthen Canadian society. With over 26 programs and services, Newcomer Centre focuses on four key areas: Employment Services, Language Services, Settlement, and Community Services. These programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of newcomers, ensuring they have the resources and support necessary for a smooth transition. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work closely with newcomers and their communities to develop and deliver services tailored to their needs, and we partner with other community organizations whenever possible to maximize our impact.
