Mission Statement

We work to inspire and support those in our community who need help to reach their full potential: children are nurtured, youth find optimism, adults feel empowered, and parents make choices that build strong families.

About This Cause

Since 1928, Family Services of Greater Vancouver has helped people in crisis to create positive change in their lives. Our mission is to ensure children are nurtured, youth find optimism, adults feel empowered, and parents make choices that build strong communities. Today FSGV helps more than 12,000 people each year through 35+ community-based programs, including: • Trauma Counselling for individuals and families; • Victim Services, providing counselling for victims of gender-based violence; • Family Supports, including foster family support, parenting education, family preservation and counselling services, and parent-teen mediation; • Financial Empowerment program, with workshops and financial literacy services for people facing financial crisis; • Youth Services, including FSGV’s Directions Youth Centre, COLT young parenting program, street youth outreach, youth employment programs, and supportive housing for homeless youth. FSGV’s expert counsellors and support workers provide compassionate, client-centered care for youth who are precariously housed or experiencing homelessness, for families and children impacted by trauma, and for victims of domestic violence and other vulnerable people in communities across the Lower Mainland. We help people of all ages from all backgrounds to develop skills and knowledge that will help them build a brighter future.
